Is there any hope for CRPGs in the near future?

The more I think about it, I don't know if CRPG's, as a whole, has that bright of a future. But I think the Fallout scene has a great future ahead of it. It's hard right now, because all we have are a few fan-made patches and simple mods to goof with. But the incredibly bright people of...

    Replaying Old Games

You know one thing I always wished you could do in Fallout, was be much more stealthy. Sort of like Thief, but not that easy. Like when you tried to take out someone in a town that you didn't like, and the whole town turned against you  It would of been cool if you could of just...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

Hey, if you say so. I don't consider it a loss, because I never really saw a good argument from ya as to how a Country/Government could survive without being able to develop new technology. To me I think you debated well, but in the end, in 100-500 years. When one country has tanks and...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

Well, we went off topic, and then went off our topics, topic. So I'm gonna leave this up to review/debate. If anyone even wants to do that. It was fun arguing back and forth  but I don't really see where to go from here, hehe.

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

Quote: Lost Metal: My point is that if a country/government,etc... is overrun by Religion and they lose sight of technology. There's not going to be any future for them. John Uskglass: Holy Sweet Leaping Jesus, are you claiming the Nazis lost touch with technology? -- No, I didn't...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

*They are where they are because America and Russia where there. A world where America is taken over by Fundementalists is a world where Russia is taken over by Rodina. Know what that means? Ever read The Man in the High Castle. * They were taken over, because they were all about Blind...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

First of all *Quote: Lost Metal: If what you say is true, than the aftermath would leave that nation in a situation, where it would be taken over. John Uskglass: No, actually, it would explode like the Nazis in series of Neo-Crusades.* Is irreverent, why? Here's a question that is...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

Why would scientists have control of the nukes? Umm... maybe because a farmer wouldn't know what to do with one? It's most likely not as simple as getting in a plane, setting a timer and dropping the fucking thing.

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

If what you say is true, than the aftermath would leave that nation in a situation, where it would be taken over. The more technological the nation, the more powerful it is. 100 million people with guns defending a nation with religious faith in their hearts, will do nothing when it is...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

When it comes to the masses, then yes. But the masses aren't armed to the nines. When it comes to the government and their military, then it might be a different story. How many governments are going to let their current technology and future technology be destroyed? No government is going...

Evolution/ Evilution vs. God's big plans

If religious fanatics start burning down libaries of science and its labs. Then they can expect the same to happen to them. It will just have to be more covertly organized, since the religious types seem to get away with more bullshit.

    Fallout PnP Chat host program

How are these things coming along? I tried to host some Fallout PnP games over WebRPG, but lack of player interest sort of killed that.

Is there any hope for CRPGs in the near future?

My only huge gripe with KoToR (besides the linearity) was the lack of replayability. I just can't imagine myself doing all those same things in that linear fashion over again, even if I can make a couple different choices along the way.

    More Fo3/VB goodies

Happy Birthday Odin!!! :kewlpics: I love looking at VB screenies, and day dreaming of what could've been. ... Damn NCR Ranger. I have been saying all this time that if FO3 is real-time I probably won't buy it, but after looking at that screenshot... Jeez, there's no way whatsoever...

DAC Scores Interview With Todd Howard.

For Bethesda, there are ups and downs to both sides. If they make the game Real Time, they will attract many new buyers to the Fallout Franchise. But probably lose around 2,000+ Fallout Fanatic buyers. Wish is nothing compared to the new buyers they'll make, by making it Real Time...

Is there any hope for CRPGs in the near future?

I'm all for them (whoever that is) charging for the game, any price they want really. It depends on how good the game is. Arcanum quality? I'll shell out 30$, Fallout quality? $50, for sure. What I'm not all for, is trying to find someone to pay your hourly wages. Can anyone say...

Is there any hope for CRPGs in the near future?

I think you underestimate how hard it would be for an independant CRPG team to "make back" $30,000 off their game. To pay for the hourly wages. Especially with Forums as their only means of advertisement. You have to get 6,000 people to pay $5. or 3,000 people to pay $10 or 1,500 people to...

Is there any hope for CRPGs in the near future?

I'm sorry to say, but no rich CRPG fan is going to pay a group of people hourly wages, only to lose money in the end. No matter how good the group, a good CRPG is going to take atleast 8 months to make. We're talking 2d, no frills game. Maybe a team of 6 people. Even if they (6 person...

    Leon spills the beans

I'm down for anything Troika wants to do. Although I have stated in another thread I thought ToEE and Vampire were letdowns. Vampire was still better than anything I've played in years. I thought the game was great, it's just really hard to live up to Fallout. But if they goto the...
