Look at their treatment of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth compared to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Both games came out within a month of each other and both have a definite niche market of fans guarenteed to be interested in them. Oblivion got a press orgy, huge marketting campaign...

IMO, if FO3 turns out good and true to the franchise, new players will definately try the old games, too. But, if it will be "Oblivion with guns", Bethesda fanbois will not play FO1 & FO2, because there ain't no shiney graphics and dumbed down interface and such. Overall, it's a matter of target...

Let it be 3d, but no first person. It would totally ruin any possibility of a TB game, thus leaving us with FPS or FP hack'n'slash in a fallouty atmoshphere, furthermore with a poor or none implementation of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. And the result - a fallout game, which is not true to the franchise. Need...
