Really, it seems like the perfect weapon for this game. You can have different arrow types like exploding arrows, fire arrows and poison tipped arrows. Plus the crossbow is a extremely modifiable weapon that can have things like scopes added to it. Hopefully we get to see it in Lonesome Road...
