Can you really call yourself a Fallout fan if you love Fallout 4, honestly?

I enjoyed Fallout 4 for what it is, a fun post apocalyptic action adventure inspired by the setting of Fallout. Is it a good Fallout game? No, not even a little bit. I wouldn't really even call it a Fallout game, unless down the line they decide to pull a Dallas and make Fallout 3, 4, and 76...

SpaceWreck - Fallout inspired isometric retro indie RPG

I have my reservations, and my biases when it comes to games that don't give combat XP, but I'll download the demo and check the game out. For me, it's about risk/reward. Combat is an inherently risky endeavor. It also has unavoidable costs associated with it. Ammo, health, weapon/armor...

SpaceWreck - Fallout inspired isometric retro indie RPG

That system is why I never finished Pillars of Eternity. Combat was unavoidable for my character, yet didn’t benefit my character at all in any way. Felt like more of an annoyance than a rewarding mechanic. I was just about to wishlist this game too.

    Et Tu or FIXT

I would suggest sticking with Et Tu, personally. I just finished a Fallout 1 play through with Et Tu and as of right now, it’s my favorite version of Fallout, whereas previously I would have said I preferred Fallout 2. The settings that make the game more challenging like not being able to loot...

    Are you a "storyfag"?

I agree with everything you’ve said here, but I’d even go one step further and say that story isn’t even a necessary element of a fun and engaging game. Even when it comes to RPGs. A good story, and meaningful character development and choices definitely help make a game more engaging in many...

    Favorite Obsolete Tech

Portable CD players are something I’m actually glad are obsolete. The batteries never lasted nearly long enough, CDs would constantly skip while out on walks, and having to carry CDs if you wanted to listen to more than one album was an extremely limiting factor. I’ve never had strong feelings...

The old question: Turn-based or Real-time?

It depends very heavily on the context of the game in question, and the implementation of the combat system employed. I couldn’t imagine, for example, trying to play Diablo with TB combat as they originally wanted to do, and I don’t particularly care for the RT combat of modern Fallout games...

    Favorite Obsolete Tech

I definitely feel that. Being a crotchety old metal head, I generally prefer to listen to music on an analog format (vinyl mostly, but also cassette from time to time), but unfortunately I too end up just using my phone when I'm out of the house. They still haven't invented sufficiently...

    How'd you get your username?

I like motorcycles and Robert E Howard stories.

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Howdy. I'm Ride For Crom. I like old school Fallout and NV.
