Texas-based fan-made Fallout game: "Fallout: Lonestar" currently in the works

I got that part, but I don't think the profit part will matter if you are requesting funds for creation. It still amounts to "income" as you will be "paid" (some amount) for the work you put into the game. Sure, it may not be much, or even enough to live on for more than a month or two, but I'm...

Texas-based fan-made Fallout game: "Fallout: Lonestar" currently in the works

Looks good, but taking it to Kickstarter for funds? It seems like Bethesda will shut this down if there is any attempt to raise capital for it. They've let fan films go, but I don't see them letting a game raise money with their license.

Wasteland 2 first look video released, update

Its Wasteland. Not Fallout. We've hashed over most of this dialogue issue many times since funding ended. Its not trying to be the same type of game that Fallout is, in terms of dialogue- and it shouldnt. Its not the kind of game you are going to be able to create a diplomat character and...

    Torment & Numenera interview

No Disagree. It's been made pretty clear by many developers that they don't want to work with a publisher and that they believe working with a publisher will hurt the quality of the game they could make.

    Torment & Numenera interview

I would prefer they start this, and begin the kickstarter, now rather than after wasteland 2. Assume 2 year development time. Id rather have the game 2 years from now, than 2 years after W2. I would also rather they are able to keep funding projects and keep team members staffed...

Wasteland 2 Update: Attributes and Skills Breakdown

Sure you could look for clues. It doesn't mean you find them. Like with all skills I would assume there are minimum thresholds you would have to meet. Let's say you have a max skill value of 100 and max attribute vale of 10. Lets say the examine skill starts out at 2*Perception. So, go...

Wasteland 2 Update: Attributes and Skills Breakdown

You can't look at a wall with Perception. It's not useable. And your examine skill would suck without good perception.

Wasteland 2 Update: Attributes and Skills Breakdown

Perception is NOT a skill. It's an attribute. In Wasteland you could actually USE attributes (which is something that you can't do in most game). So, for instance, in Highpool, you had to (U)se (P)erception on the wall to find the entrance to a cave. In Wasteland 2 you won't be able to...

Wasteland 2 Update: Attributes and Skills Breakdown

What in the world are you talking about? Perception is an attribute. You can not "use" perception. Examine is a skill. You "use" it. Skills are, in part, derived from attributes. What are you having such a hard time understanding?

Wasteland 2 Update: Attributes and Skills Breakdown

Actually, it's pretty clear that they don't. The post made it clear that you can't use Attribute, like you could in Wasteland. So examine would be a useable skill that is derived largely from Perception.

Do you work in the video game industry?

My Avatar isn't from any game. It's just something I mocked up to look like a Wasteland Portrait, so you were right both in that it looks like Wasteland, and that it isn't.

Do you work in the video game industry?

I spent 5 and a half years in the game industry. I worked for one company that I loved and 2 that I hated. However, in all of them I worked insane hours during crunch time for projects (which can last months...even years in some cases). Now, it really all depends on what area you are going to...

    Wasteland 2 Inspiration Pinterest

Well, because there are thousands of potentially usable pieces of artwork that would be setting appropriate, so its mildly odd to choose one from a game that they are indirectly stating is a part of the problem in the industry that they are fighting against. No, it doesn't suggest anything...

I saw this Kickstarter project Jack Houston and the Necronauts, and I am intrigued by it. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warbirdgames/jack-houston-and-the-necronauts?ref=live Now, I'm an adventure game fan from the Basic days, text adventure, moving on to Sierra's pre-mouse adventure...

Diablo III proves old-school Fallout can do well today

Isometric view was never the future of gaming technology. I'm not sure what you are saying there. It was(and is) the present, just like 1st person, top-down, side-scroll, etc. Its just a viewpoint choice. We've had 1st person, top-down, side-scrollers since the beginning of popular gaming in the...

Diablo III proves old-school Fallout can do well today

Yeah, this is kind of a silly thought. The theme that Isometric RPGs can be "successful" in today's climate is a fine one, but not only does Diablo have little to do with this, but Fallout is also among the least likely candidates to make an isometric revival. We have Wasteland 2 and...
