Lionel Messi
As a football fan, I find the little scamp a joy to watch. Last night he orchestrated the 7-1 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen, scoring five for himself (a CL first). He's now 7 goals off the Barca club record, which, considering his age, is mental. So far this season he's scored 48 goals in 42 games for Barca, which again is mental. Last year he got 53 in 55, which is mental enough. He also comes across as a pretty nice guy (El Classico games aside), which for someone in his position is a rarity.
Best player in the world right now by some distance, best player I've ever seen by some distance. Best player ever?
Despite this, I reckon Real are going to win la Liga this season. Which is odd. If Messi is the worlds best (he is) then C. Ronaldo is second, as a Manchester United supporter I miss the polemic, odious man.
Anyone following the EPL this season? Great stuff. I'll write a long-winded post about the EPL season when I have temporal space, probably more about la Liga too, maybe even seria a? Though I've not followed it with my usual vigour this time round.
