First time out of the vault
I'm currently replaying Fallout 2 (with the restoration patch), and I'm trying to win it "ironman" style. ie. no saving/reloading other than to protect against crashes and such.
Fallout 2 a very long game, and there are many things that can one-shot-kill the player even with excellent armour. So a lot of the play-style is about minimising the number of those situations...
In any case, one of the big dangers is a critical hit from a burst weapon - bypassing armour. So here's my question:
When a critical hit bypasses armour, does that include all resistances and damage thresholds? Or does it only include values from the actual armour that your character is wearing? In particular, if a crit bypasses armour, does that also bypass the effects of the "toughness" perk? Does it bypass the events of the impact-plate implants? Or does it only bypass the external armour that is being worn?
(As for my progress with ironman so far; I've did a little bit experimenting with builds, and then tried a serious attempt... I got as for as NRC, with the car - then I got careless with the raiders around Vault 15 - killed by a critical burst attack which I could have survived if I'd used my stims sooner. I'm now on my second attempt, in which I've just finished with Vault City and Gecko, and I'm ready to make the return trip to get the car.)
