I bought this on big Stardock Anniversary Sales, and I would say that it reminds me a lot of Age of Wonders 2 & Master of Magic.
Well though I should say that this game has more civilization-like features in that you research technologies in Civic, Magic, and War areas instead of researching individual magics, turn-based battle system along with wandering heroes trying to join your cause is definitely similar with Master of Magic and AOW2.
I need to give more hours into this game, but so far I'm liking it alot.
