This will be updated later with the actual encounters themselves - critter types, loot, etc. VANILLA ENCOUNTERS DISTRIBUTION: Vanilla means Fallout without any mods or patches. However, the figures below should be valid for all mods and patches except mine; I'm not aware of changes to these by any of the mods or patches.
Also note, usage of the tilde (~) symbol below means "about". I know for a fact the figures are accurate (each table was rolled 3 million times), however, for readability I've rounded them all to the nearest half-percent. (e.g. 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5) "Nearest" means some were rounded up and some were rounded down.
However, "never" is not rounded: "never" means literally 0 chance. Encounter1 tends to be the "most difficulty" (e.g. Super Mutants in areas that normally have rats and radscorpions and raiders). Encounter6 tends to be the "least difficult" (e.g. free items), with the others falling in-between those in terms of difficulty. Note: That is NOT always the case; the game doesn't follow any formula for all random encounter difficulty scaling. That is just a general rule of thumb. --LOW LUCK TABLE-- 1 or 2 Luck Encounter1 ~ 2% Encounter2 ~ 7.5% Encounter3 ~ 28% Encounter4 ~ 46% Encounter5 ~ 14.5% Encounter6 ~ 2% --NORMAL TABLE-- City/Coast/Mountain: 3 to 7 Luck Desert: 3 to 6 Luck Encounter1 ~ 0.5% Encounter2 ~ 4% Encounter3 ~ 21.5% Encounter4 ~ 48% Encounter5 ~ 21.5% Encounter6 ~ 4.5% --BETTER LUCK TABLE-- City/Coast/Mountain: 8 Luck Desert: 7 or 8 Luck Encounter1 never Encounter2 ~ 2% Encounter3 ~ 14.5% Encounter4 ~ 46.5% Encounter5 ~ 28% Encounter6 ~ 9% --BEST LUCK TABLE-- 9 or 10 Luck Encounter1 never Encounter2 ~ 0.5% Encounter3 ~ 9% Encounter4 ~ 40.5% Encounter5 ~ 34% Encounter6 ~ 16%
It's unlikely anyone will ever look at these, but here's the documents I was using while computing these numbers: http://www.mediafire.com/view/pzu4f2qu65gjh48/Random_Encounter_chances_computations_-_original.xls http://www.mediafire.com/view/9a92c8ley25kptn/Random_Encounter_chances_computations.xls
