I figured out how to add files into windows now..... that was a @#$%^. Can you identify the picture in the background of #3?

Windows 95 in 16 bit with DX 6.1... There is a lot of potential here.... oh and fallout 2 runs...

BUT..

1)It works, really! You can save and load games.
2)There is no sound, working on it...
3) Performance is slow but playable, working on it..
4)It's currently only in Russian but I am working on that.
5)The videos run worse than in my fallout 1 video with DOS.... but they run.

Thanks is owed to WMorroWM for showing me how to run it. Now I must make it work for the masses of Androids looking to migrate to the wasteland.

Ok People here is where some of the longtime members, modders, & moderators need to put in some input.

I can patch the game! So...

1) What would be the best patches or mods to put on? Keep in mind that i need to keep the file size under or <= 1GB? -128 MB for the OS. The OS might increase in size.

2)Performance is an issue. However performance is improved now by about 15% in game and videos. Patches will effect performance so I need to know what would be the best combination in all respects.

I've got a #$^% load of stuff to test still so it would help to get some feedback ASAP, before I make the next build of it.

It's no joke people, its coming....

How to install & play Fallout 2 on Android

welcome back to the Wasteland Android Adventures. Fallout 2 is now playable on Android with the use of an X86 emulator QEMU & CM9...Sort of.

Here you will learn how to install fallout 2 onto your android device. Fallout 2 the game is not included(some assembly required).

Recommended:
CPU Dual core (Qualcomm APQ8060 Snapdragon, Scorpion) Dual-core 1.2GHz, equivalent or better.
GPU Adreno 220, Nvidia Tegra, equivalent or better.
RAM 1GB, 512, 256. My Config asks for a min or 256MB & shouldn't be run on a device with less than this.

What You will need:

1)windows95.VHD

2)A)Fallout_2.ISO or B)Fallout 2 full installation on a PC.

How to install & run Fallout 2 on your Android device, 2 ways 4 play.

A)Easy way with the fallout_2.ISO:

1)Transfer the sdl folder to the root directory of your device.

2)Transfer the libSDL.apk to your device and install it.

3)To play fallout 2 you must put your Fallout_2.ISO(not Included) into the sdl folder,.

4)Run the libSDL app from your device and run fallout 2 from the CD.

Or

B)Harder way but it works with a PC installation:

1)Transfer the sdl folder to the root directory of your device. This could be your SDcard.

2)Transfer the libSDL.APK to your device and install it.

3)Use VHD resizer to create a second partition on your Windows VHD.
Download VHD resizer: http://vmtoolkit.com/default.aspx

4)Go to windows 7 Diskmanagement. Go to Start/Computer/right click and choose Manage/select Disk Management/
On the right select more actions/click attach VHD.

5)You should see the virtual drive auto run. To use your new partition, right click on the drive with the black bar. Now choose 'mark partition as active' See the video.

6) The drive should now auto start and you can open it and add your full installation of Fallout 2 onto it.

7) Detach the VHD from windows 7 Diskmanagement and put it into your sdl folder.

8)Run The libSDL app and start windows. Navigate to the fallout2.exe in your emulated windows directory and enjoy.

SDL Config File:

Here is the default line for the config. You can increase the Memory -m.
Change the -cdrom to the exact name of the ISO file you intend to use.
Change the -hda to the exact name of your windows .VHD file.

/sdl -L . -m 256 -boot c -hda w95r.vhd -usb -usbdevice tablet -cdrom Fallout_2.iso

I have tried to add "-soundhw sb16" into sdl config but windows refuses to boot afterwards. Any help offered to my little Fallout revival project on Android would be appreciated.

Thoughts for future development:
It had occurred to me that if a .VHD complete with win95 & Fallout 2 could be made into a .IMG file it could be run in bochs with sound.

Thanks so much for posting such detailed info. I got this running on my lenovo A1 7" tablet today. Which lead to lots of people commenting 'Man, you're really bored.'

I'm glad to hear you got it working. It makes me happy to see fellow Fallout Enthusiasts, enjoying the Wasteland on the go.

Lol you won't be bored if you have Fallout to play on your tablet now :mrgreen:

Joking aside its probably the best and longest RPG experience you could have on your mobile device. I still plan to work on improving it in the future, if it's possible. The 1.02 patch works with it as well.

Oh and look, a link to a version with the 1.02 files already installed 8-) 8-)

Don't forget to try Fallout 1 as well. It runs smoother and with sound. I should have an update out for it in a couple of days.
