Shit, there are going to be supermutants in a prequel to fallout 1. I just realized that.

Didn't they already create a separate source of mutants in Fallout 3 with FEV being given to Vault Tech for use in Vault 87? This will be nothing new. East Coast mutants were never tied to the timeline of the Master. But I will reiterate, who the fuck cares what Bethesda writes at this point? They can say the Brotherhood of Steel was founded on the moon in 2075 by an NCR ghoul and that doesn't wipe your Fallout 2 discs of data. We still know the fucking truth.

Because that's what RPGs are about, building a home and not wandering around the game's world anymore.

    Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

Basically shoving something that doesn't belong in Fallout. Because Fallout is about the moral and ethics of a post-apocalyptic world, not playing house.

Yeah, i thought the base building was dumb in Fallout 4. I want to see the civilization being rebuilt in this franchise but as a joint effort that takes a while. Not a single dude building a ton of settlements basically all alone.

I did say i do not care what they do with the Fallout license, but because of people like these asking for this type of crap (basically just pushing Bethesda's terrible ideas), it's one of the reasons why i stopped caring about future fallout games.

Guys, you just can't see those countless roleplaying options.
U KNOW JUST USE THE IMAGINATION, COS RPG IS ALL ABOUT IT.

I'll propably start with hobo character, so I'll be building only sleeping bags and mattresses, maybe some burning barrels.

My second character will be Anchorage veteran, that lost his squad when he smashed his toe on a night table, so no night tables in his settlements.

I'm asking R E A L FO fans to share their character backstories down below (don't do it).

Y'know, if I didn't know better, I would almost think that you were employing sarcasm to illustrate your dislike of Fallout 4, and your lack of excitement over the incredible possibilities of base building in Fallout 76, such as building a base, and building a different base, and building a base in the shape of a penis and posting it on instagram or whatever, or... that's about it really. But that's still 3 things you could do! What more could you possibly expect from a fallout game?

Man... fuck Bethesda, seriously. This series just needs to be killed before we see Fallout battle royale or some shit.

I think we saw a marked difference between the reaction to Fo3 and 4. It's not a pattern, yet, but it's possible that the fanbase with fracture even further. I feel like there's only so long they can go before a comeuppance is due. It's not like the industry doesn't have a history of burning big companies to the ground practically overnight. Culture shifts, narratives about gaming change. Exploitation brought most companies to their knees once. It can happen again. It might. That period where new ways to screw with consumers are too new to garner strong reactions, at least on a financial level doesn't last forever. After that, it's anyone's guess what follows.

I am really curious to see how much of a rip-off Fallout 76 will be from Fortknight.

"Only you and your friends can stop the apocalypse! Hordes of Supermutants and Ghouls came with the storm and it's time to take your world back and to defend you vault!

The base building thing is one area where giving the player too much freedom actually makes the game less realistic and engaging, because if you have absolute freedom to build anything you want, the game AI will not be able to meaningfully respond to it.

For example, in Fo4 I'm pretty sure you're not actually supposed to be physically building all the settlements yourself - you just plan them out, and the settlers build them. Now does it make sense that a group of people trying to survive in the Wasteland would agree to waste valuable time and resources on building a giant penis monument? Not really. But the game has no way to tell if any given structure, out of the essentially infinite possible ones you could build, is useful or not.

So I think for the settlement building to be enjoyable it would need to give the player limited, but meaningful options, instead of total freedom of customization. Deciding whether to build a hospital, or a defensive wall, or residential buildings, with your limited resources. Deciding whether to set up farms, or start a mining operation and trade with other settlements to get food, or maybe just raid for supplies instead. Finding ways to bring other factions under your influence to become the ruling power in the wasteland, or staying small and isolationist. That's what I want from the game, not the ability to place individual sections of scrap metal fencing to form the shape of a penis.

Ideally the construction of a new settlement should be tied to quests, that pin it to an ongoing narrative about your settlers. This could have even been done with procedurally generated quests, but all they wanted to give were nonsensically repetitive 'go and shoot some people' quests. It should have progressed through stages of development, starting with a tent village wherever existing structures are insufficient. Quite frankly I have a had time believing that 200 year old houses are going to be easily made habitable. Water damage, mold, infestation, termites, general decay, fire hazards from aged unmaintained materials, etc.

At the very least it should never have been possible to just set up generators, water big ass purifiers, and turrets from scrap. That could have been a big deal; a quest to get a generator, etc. Having to raid a robot factory to get automated defenses for your settlement would have been really rewarding.

In all the E3 "excitement", everyone seems to have missed this leak regarding what will be the first Creation Club item available for Fallout 76. Not sure I like the new look for Dogmeat, but apart from that I guess it follows the tradition of the horse armor and such.

There was like a live E3 Stream with Bethesda on youtube ... but I thought ... meh, why bother? Lives to short for fucking your self up.

Also, as many already guessed Fallout 79 is some online-garbage.

So with Fallout 4 they created a game where you made up your own 'content' ... now they make one where you make up your own story ... weeee! Larping never was so great!

I figured I'd weigh into this...
Just researched all this Vault 76 hoopla, and just wow.
It's like buying a car to get a Fisher Price toy car that has a milk expiration date instead.

After reviewing the details it's basically Fallout 4 with always online multiplayer. It also seems to contradict a lot of things already like super mutants, resource wars, etc...

Bethesda: "Fuck continuity, lore, and Fallout in general. This is Fallout lite made for FPS fans and consoles."

Does anyone think it's funny that almost no PC players are remotely interested in Vault 76 yet all most of the console players are wetting their pants for this?
Also Quora is a buzz about this, mostly with negative stuff coherently stating how Vault 76 is basically a cash grab cookie cutter game that conflicts with Fallout's basis of design.

Anyone else see how the crowd at E3 basically jizzed their collective pants over the wearable power armor helmet gimmick?

The stupidity of consumers today is frightening...

Consumers today or gamers in general at least are easily impressed.
You would think after perhaps having been disappointed several times in the past because games did not live up to the promises of the developer/publisher that gamers would become more critical and cautious, not so quickly give their support or interest in a title that is yet to be released until they actually played it.

Instead it is like Malibu Stacy, now with free hat. (old Simpsons reference, look it up)

Probably by the time they might become more cynical there is already a new generation of gullible idiots.

This is something new people just found out? I remember somewhat similar criticisms to Fallout 3... oh wait I forgot the Fallout franchise started with Fallout 3.

Fuck them and their opinions, they were all to happy to drink the kool aid when Oblivion post-apocalyptic version named Fallout 3 was announced.
