First Aid In Combat

I have never been able to use first aid in combat. I use stitch. He has enough APs. Yet in combat the game just sits there while stitch moves his hands back and forth. Eventually i give up and end his turn, which causes him to not heal. I've made sure he had the APs to do the healing too. :/

So HOW do you use first-aid or doctor in combat?

Are you playing TB or CTB? Most healing like the first aid kit uses 10 AP. It is more than one TB turn. As long as you have already used most of the AP you may well hold tight and Stitch will heal them.
