Salvatore quest bug?

After paying off Renesco's money to Salvatore, I got another quest to help him with a "business transaction". Mason asks you if you're ready to go, I hit wait a while, and he said I had 24 hours. I saved my game and talked to him again and he tried to attack me cause he said I was late! Does this always happen, or can I get around it somehow, I don't have a previous save to go back to, I'd have to start over to find out what this quest is.

I have that problem when I ask him to wait too. Personally, I'd kill them. You'll miss out on the 500 xp (I think 500) gained from the simplistic escorting job, but wiping out the families seems good for Karma.
Then you can go back to the Modrinos, say you assassinated the boss, not join their family, and kill them too.
