Shadow Who Walks...???

In the raiders base he died last time i played in getting caught in the heat of the moment,but anywhoo this time im about to be at the base pretty darn soon so just wondering does he actually do ANYTHING? like talk or give you an item...

Shadow who walks is the guy who guides the raiders to Vault City and then safely back again. The Corrections Officer in VC mentions how they manage to dissapear into the caves.
