Leonel Arias, 47, told police he was playing a practical joke by donning the Bin Laden mask, toting his pellet rifle and jumping out to scare drivers on a narrow street in his hometown, Carrizal de Alajuela (search), about 20 miles north of San Jose.

Arias had startled several drivers that way on Monday afternoon. But when he jumped out in front of taxi driver Juan Pablo Sandoval, the motorist reached for a gun and shot him twice in the stomach. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

"For me and I think for anybody else at a time like that one thinks the worst and so I fired my gun," Sandoval told Channel 7 television.

Police declined to detain Sandoval, saying he had believed he was acting in self-defense.


















Who else thinks this guy's getting shot is funny ? The binladn mask is only a minor element to me, as I think anyone fool enough to play with a gun like that deserves some lead.
 
I would lock up both the Bin Laden dude AND the taxi driver. I mean, what does he think this is? Latin America? Oh, wait...
 
Why the Taxi driver ?

He sees someone in a mask (assuming he could tell it was a mask) cone towards him waving a gun, and dressed like a muslim.

Even if it wasnt for the terrorism possibility, the gun alone would be reason enough to plug the guy in self defence.

It's Costa Rica, not Polizeistat Umerika, and the probabilities of Al-Quaeda or other muslim hate groups even remotely threatening that country are next to nil.

Other than that, if there even WAS an action taken against an entire COUNTRY, it wouldn't be in the form of a berserk guy with a towel on his head, shooting random people on the street. You don't seriously believe Osama is going to jump out of the corner and shoot you dead with a bb gun, do you?

Nonetheless, the whole thing is hilarious, I can imagine the Osama doppleganger's face when the cabby takes his gun out and shoots him, after saying "You terroristin' to me?"
 
While I agree the possibility ot (muslim) terrorism in south america is next to nil, if you see a towlhead jump out with what appears to be a gun, youre not going to let that confort you. Youre going to (if armed) let your bullets smacking into the person threatening you confort you.

My only problem with the cabbie is he missed a headshot, which prevents this guy from getting a darwin award.
 
Sorry to pop the bubble, but contrary to what you may believe, the guy probably fired his weapon because the guy had a *rifle*, I don't think he fired because he had a towel on his head.

If there was a muslim who was a member at the same shooting range/club as you (no, you didn't even have to tell me, Patriotspammer), would you automatically bust a cap in his ass when you saw him practicing?
 
Now your just being a dumbass baboon. Totaly differnt circumstances.

At a gun range, you EXPECT peope to have guns.

In public, you dont expect to see any guns openly displayed (minus cops and gangbangers) and you DO open fire if they point or wave a weapon in your direction.
 
So you also shoot people with guns who aren't towelheads? Why the exception for gangbangers?
 
Err... if someone jumps out with a mask on (I have a hard time believing the mask was in any way realistic) and a gun, I would think that it was a car-jacking.

I expect that is what the taxi driver thought, much more than he was really shooting bin Laden.

This guy was trying to scare people with a gun, it was only a matter of time before he got shot, Muslim outfit or no Muslim outfit.

I would have shot him to...either for waving a gun or to get that multi-million dollar awarding on his head.

Im just glad that after seeing the title the person being shot wasnt someone on this forum. It could easily have been.

VD........I think the majority of 'waving the gun' that people here do involves their right hand (unless theyre a leftie) and some lotion...........
