    If you had to guess, how many units would you say Fallout 1 and 2 sold. Count the Fallout 1 and 2 box sets, Fallout trilogy and classic collection, and Steam sells.

    I'm not asking you guys to go try to dig up information, that could take forever (unless you wanted to). I mean as a guess, how many units would you say Fallout 1 and 2 have sold total (also, group 1 and 2 together, try not to give separate figures for F1 and F2).

    I'm using this to try and figure out how many people can still be considered "original" Fallout fans.

    Also, not every player is fan of specific game, which he played.

    Same for fo3.
    maybe beth's materbation program sold a lot, but many of them just buy it because it's famous and don't play much. and number of fanboy isn't that big different compare with other good old RPG fans.

    I actually think that both F3 and NV have sold far more than F1/2 due to gaming being bigger now days and quite a few people buy it of steam during sales etc.

    actually it's because fo3 and NV sold not only PC but also at console market. if fo3 and NV is sold only for PC market, sold not that much.

    Really? Thats a bit more than I expected.

    I would have guessed around 5 to 7 million. But I have no sources or no idea, so your probably closer than I am.

    Anybody else have any idea?

    Once I heard that Fallout triology(1+2+T) sold better than fo3's(only for pc though). so Fo1,2 sold very well.
    even before that Fo1 and Fo2 sold over than 10 million.

    I would guess - :shrug:

    F1 = 300,000 (original boxes) + 200,000 post-release (GOG, Steam, Value packs).

    F2 = 400,000 (original boxes) + 200,000 post-release (GOG, Steam, Value packs).

    Fallout Tactics = 200,000 (original boxes) + 200,000 post-release (GOG, Steam, Value packs).

    F3 = 3 million +.

    FNV = 2 million +.

    The numbers for F1 and F2 weren't that impressive, IIRC.

    The original Fallout was one of the most 'torrented' games at one point wasnt it?

    I'm sure I remember reading an NMA News story on here telling as much a few years ago.

    Fallout 3:
    3.21m for PS
    4.10m for xbox
    0.86m for PC

    Fallout: New Vegas
    2.52m for PS
    3.45m for xbox
    0.97m for PC

    As for old Fallouts, I would say that in past it poorly sold.
    Most of games were pirated on big scale, that's why most companies were having problems with financial.

    VG Chartz is barely better as a source than just guessing, though those numbers look about right based on what little I know (New Vegas sold 5 million copies within 2 months, ie the only time when a game sells in appreciable quantities).

    I don't know how much the old games sold but it must have been pretty respectable, since Bethesda considered it a good financial move to acquire the IP and attach the brand name to a product.

    I trust user score as much as i trust the company to be honnest! Heck just look at any site where you can rate a movie and see movies like the godfather terminator 2 etc being labeled as "the worst movie ever"

    People are stupid so i don't listen to people when it comes to this kind of things!

    I don't know how well of a source VGChartz is for an old game, because they are saying Fallout 1 and 2 sold next to nothing, which is completely bullshit. If they didn't sell any copies (or basically no copies), they wouldn't spend all that time making a number two and three (Van Buren). and there definitely probably wouldn't be a NMA.

    Back in 2000, these where the games sold.

    Baldur's Gate (all formats) 500,000
    BG expansion pack 156,000
    Fallout 144,000
    Fallout 2 123,000
    Diablo 1,300,000
    Revenant 37,000
    Darkstone 75,000
    Ultima IX: Ascension 73,000
    Planescape: Torment 73,000

    Of course, this does not count pirated, steam, and the new releases.
