DarkUnderlord Water Chip? Been There, Done That

I was chatting in the #Arcanum irc developer chat and Tim Cain mentioned that Troika are working on a new game for a new publisher. Now that's typical enough. But... He was rather coy. He didn't mention the publishers name and didn't say anything about the game. Only some references to 'Keeping Troika alive' (As a side note, it seems Arcanum didn't sell that well).

Now, none of this is peculiar... Except... Feargus was saying FO3 would be 3d right? Well, on Troikas website:
    http://www.troikagames.com/jobs.htm

They advertise for 3d programmers and such. So I had a wild idea.... Interplay have contracted Troika out (the original Fallout team) to make Fallout 3!!

Meanwhile BIS can work on whatever else (Torn perhaps?) and the original fathers of Fallout can make another damn good Fallout game!

Okay, so maybe I'm leaping to conclusions.... But it could be possible...

Moo..... Moo.... I'm an Interplay Cow. (Ready to be milked with a Fallout style MMORPG with aliens!)

That analogy doesn't really work because Sherlock Holmes used observation and logic to solve mysteries, and I pulled that out of thin air.

Arcanum seems to have sold much less units than i was expecting in Europe. But it did sell quite well, even if it wasn`t a blockbuster. What i think it happened is Troika got the most advanced funding they could from Sierra, to help starting the company without beeing to dependent of bank credit. That`s fine, but their royalties are now going to Sierra pockets, so they`re probably desperate to find a fresh income source, or else...

I´m not expecting their participation in Fo3, but, in a curious coincidence, i happen to now that IP did a contract with an outside developer in December to produce a very secret project...
So if you guys are conspiracy theories freaks, that`s veeery interesting, right? :-)

Well, i`m not at the moment, but it was a nice thought :-)

On the one hand I can't imagine IP contracting a major project like FO3 as long as BIS remains, but on the other hand they could really hype the return of Tim Cain and some of the other original creative minds to the FO world. We can only hope.

It might not be that far off!
