So, I got the BIS Mapper for Fallout 2; and Norton 360 is saying that the EXE file is contaminated with spyware. The threat rate is said to be high. Is this just a misunderstanding, or is it really contaminated?
That really doesn't answer my question, but it raises another one. What kind of security do you have on your computer? As for my previous question, I'm not asking if it works. I'm asking if it's safe to use. Those are two different questions.
About the BIS Mapper... You wouldn't happen to have downloaded it from this page, would you? http://www.nma-fallout.com/resources/bis-mapper.55/ If you are saying that it's safe to use, then chances are that my Norton 360 security is being severely overprotective. This would not be the first time it happened.
By all means, please do. With yours, I might be able to determine the problem on my end. Provide me with a link.
I did last year, and I have been using it without security risk. I just re-downloaded it to see what AVG say, I even scanned both the new download and my current mapper folder, nothing to report. False alarms can happen with modding tools though, I once had some with Norton and the Bloodlines SDK, which I kept and used for years now without any problem. Modding in general is not safe for the mind... But you have to already be on the path of madness to begin with if you keep hanging on to it...
