Made Man for the Wrights - possible if made man for others?

Excelsior

First time out of the vault
I've had a quick look here on the forums and have tried following the "Quad Made Man" FAQ available on the Net, but can't quite do this so I thought I'd ask here.

Patched European version of Fallout 2 - having done all the necessary pre-made man missions for the four families, I've been trying to become a made man for all four whilst killing three of the four bosses - my aim being to leave the Wrights standing.

I went to Bishop first, not a problem, and even managed to kill him without turning his gang hostile not by using the safe trap method but by super-stimming him, then planting some plastique on him. Worked a treat, and I wasn't attacked. Tick in box. I tried doing him second, but my sneak is nowhere near strong enough to get past 2 floors of guards.

Salvatore - well, I managed to get upstairs without getting engaged but the guard looking at me turned hostile without fail so I just had to go in guns blazing and accept I wasn't going to get made; annoying, but I ended up with shades and laser pistols galore, so....

Mordino, managed to run into the casino and to him fast enough to get dialogue, became a made man and then poisoned him. Another tick in box.

So now all that's left is to get to the dialogue with Orville Wright. This is the problem: I can get into his "mansion" at night, despite the number of onlookers, and get myself in a corner beyond Keith Wright where I won't be spotted. From reading the FAQs, opening the door yourself can turn the bosses or their help hostile. However, even having managed to get Sulik to run into Orville's room first, Wright is immediately hostile to me even with no weapons drawn etc. I've even tried blowing the door with dynamite so I can run straight through without opening it, but no luck there.

One thought which does occur - I happen to be Mentat'd up when I'm doing this - would that be an issue for the non-drug Wrights? Has anyone else attempted this? I'm considering just committing myself to engaging the other families and wiping them out to get rid of my made man status for Mordino and Bishop so that I can become Wright's made man. But equally, if there's no difference to the ending with the other bosses dead, does it matter, XP points aside? Just like to know, really, as it's been bugging me trying to do it!

(Incidentally, character is wearing Mk II Combat Armour although I tried it without in case that was making me look like a hitman, which is what Wright accuses me of being).

Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, and as an aside - I have invisible kids syndrome. I understand from the FAQs there should be kids, but as this is the European version they're not there graphically but their general play speech is intact!

Theres a way to 'wack' every boss and after you do it i'm pretty sure (not 100 percent) that you can go get made somewhere else. Bishop you reset the trap in his room. Salvatore you steal his oxygen tank. Mordino you give him a dose of jet. And Wright you give the kids outside the house a loaded gun and tell them to 'point it at their dad' or something like that.

Thanks for coming back on this - interestingly, in the European version which I have as I mentioned the kids don't appear - just their non-triggered dialogue. So it isn't possible to kill Wright like that anyway. The problem I'm having, ironically, is how to not have to kill Wright when I'm a made man with (nearly) everyone else! I haven't actually tried the detox route yet, so that's next...

I didn't have to whack any of the bosses, and I became a made man for everyone. It's a tricky process though. I'll give you a hint, you have to get to the final quest of each family.

PipBoy, thanks, getting the final quests is no problem but of course once you start becoming a made man the other families turn hostile, which is the key problem I'm having with the Wrights etc - it may just be that my character doesn't have the right skills to get to Wright without making him hostile. In which case my alternatives are to either get rid of my other made man attributes so I can speak with him, or just leave him alive as is without becoming a Wright made man - which should leave the Wrights on top in any event.

Trick is that you gotta finish all but the final jobs for each family.

Then you gotta whack them all off ('cept for the final dude, unless you want to anyways) in a specific sequence, which escapes me at the moment.

Sure, a couple of them will probably wanna kill you because of you being a made-man for the other families, so that's why you gotta open a conversation with them BEFORE they realize what you've done and call the guards on you.

The sneaking skill really comes in handy here.

Ozrat, spot on with that advice. My Sneak rating was too low when I first tried getting to Wright; drugging up raised it just high enough to let me get into speech without him going into combat. I'd tried it before but didn't think to artificially raise my Sneak skill just to get into the room, because Wright had his back to me as it was and it was night time! So I ended up with three out of four made men karma tags and moved on...

Glad I could help, as I've never actually done it myself! :P

Hey, three out of four ain't bad!
