Modding Fallout 1 & 2 NPCs?

Would it be possible to mod certain NPCs in Fallout 1 and 2 to look another way?

I know in Fallout Fixt you could make Ian, Dogmeat, and I think Tycho look "unique", but what about making them look completely different?

Like making Tycho look like he's wearing the Desert Ranger armor from New Vegas, make Marcus look like his talking head and body from New Vegas, maybe edit some generic NPCs to have different color or styled clothes to make the world seem more diverse in look.

Just these small edits. Would something like that even be possible?

I've seen a picture of an NCR ranger from New Vegas in Fallout 2, however I don't know if it's an actual mod or a photoshop image.

Heh, funny how this image is still floating around the webs. I made it like a billion years ago - yes, in photoshop. However, the character existed and was made within the scope of the FOnline 2238 3d model project. Sadly it was never finished, because generally folks generally didn't really had interest in it, etc. etc.

To answer the question, of course you can make critters "look different" - it's just a matter of how much time you want to spend on the work. You can either create a 3d model with animations and render it, or you'll do it the way long hair and bald head dude were made - with manually editing every single frame of every animation. That's some 10k images you'll have to edit.

Other than that, there is no fast way for making new critters. If it were easy, we had lots of them by now.

Woah that's your work? Amazing dude, looks great. Also 10k??? Jfc, yeah that's not worth the effort, all it'd change is the cosmetics of the world, the game is already good as-is. How unfortunate, still would be awesome though.

The source of the 3D model is still there, or is it all rotten under a lot of shit?)

I've been working on a way to create new critters in blender, exporting to image sequences, then converting them to FRM's for use in Fallout 2. Not sure how much longer it'll take to document the process since it's pretty long and complicated, but hoping to have something out in the next few weeks.

Any images of your work, for us curious creatures!
