Monitors!

So I've decided I want to get a second monitor, because that's totally tits. But I don't really like my current monitor, a Samsung T220 22". It has a very good image, but ergonomically, it's a nightmare. You can't tilt it at all. I'd like to be able to tilt it vertically. So I don't really feel like getting a second one of the same. But then again, mixing monitors is retarded, as the colors won't match.

So I've decided I might get two new monitors, and sell this one I have now. There are several candidates, and I'm not sure which one to get. The BenQ G2222 is really cheap (€150), and has LED technology, but I have no idea if it's good. Then there's the much lauded Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA, which is supposedly one of the best monitors out there. But the price has remained pretty much unchanged for more than six months, so meh!

Any good review sites? I want to get as many opinions as possible. I need a versatile monitor, as I use it for everything from playing games to watching HD movies. It shouldn't be larger than 22", as my computer table is pretty small (and I don't see the point of 24", really). I'm not sure if a native resolution of 1920x1080 is really worth it, even if it's sexy; I have just one Ati Radeon HD 4850 to power the thing. But then again I'm getting a second card in the coming weeks to run Crossfire.

the reason people go for 24" instead of 22" is because there is significant size increase for usually a quite small price difference.

i was looking for a particular comparison image, but could only come up with this, i guess it'll do:

as for choosing a monitor? i can never get it right myself. it's a bloody nightmare. last time i bought one, i spent a month weighing all stuff and still came out with a suboptimal choice...

Ratty, I'm considering getting two Ultrasharps for the panels, but they're pretty expensive. I guess it depends how much I can sell my current monitor for.

Suaside, I made it pretty clear why I don't want 24" monitors. On my table, they'll be less than a meter away from my face, I don't want that. Not to mention the extra load with the resolution increase.

my 24" is standing about 50-60cm from my face, vic.

as for the load, well, it's you that wants 2 screens, not me. :)
2 at work, 1 at home.

PS: the 24" thing was simply pointing out (as you remarked/questioned) why people wanted 24" screens. not for you to get two. ;)

About the same and it's fine. I've got a 17" next to it, but I want to expand soon.

I got my 24" because at the time, 22" to 24" was a meaningful resolution step (that's apparently changed), and 30" monitors were insanely expensive.

Been trying to settle on a good monitor, but instead I've been making many trips to return this shit. I'm never going to buy another TN panel again. HORRIBLE vertical viewing angle (unless you're looking DOWN on the damned thing, which isn't doable with my setup; the top 1/3 of the screen will have horribly distorted colors, and the blacks will even go inverted), and the colors are awful.

Tried an HP (W2338H).

Washed out colors. Very bad ghosting. Returned.

Tried an Acer (H243Hbmid).

Washed out colors. Several dead pixels. Buzzed whenever the screen went dark. Returned.

Just grabbed a Samsung (2333hd).

Washed out colors. Clusters of stuck pixels. Buzzing constantly that gets ridiculously loud the darker the screen is (currently sounds like a cicada while looking at the NMA page).

Taking it back tomorrow.

I'm guessing that non-TN (what trash they are) ~22-24" panels are WAY out of the $200 range, so I'll work another $100 into my budget. Any suggestions would be lovely.
