    Yeah, so.
    Trine- http://trine-thegame.com/site/
    Demo- http://www.gamershell.com/download_47720.shtml
It.... well it really does feel like Lost Vikings. You control 3 characters, thief, warrior and mage. Each has some unique skills. Your goal (at least in the demo) is to make it to the other side of the map.
There are few twists in comparison to LV- health (each character), mana (only mage in the demo) and experience (everyone). Once you gain enough experience your characters level up and gain new abilities so nowadays it can be considered a hardcore rpg. Another twist is that unlike in LV there's 3 characters in 1- you don't leave the other 2 behind when you're going ahead with just 1- they're all there.
Graphics are pretty, gameplay is fun, physics are cool tho sometimes clunky. I hope the devs won't do any stupid shit like DRM it up.

I't d be stupid if it was DRM'd with intrusive SecuRom crap, but AFAIK noone uses its most annoying form anymore.

DRM-free, the game would be pirated before you can say "Ratty".

I no longer distinguish between intrusive and non-intrusive crap. All I'm asking for is not installing some weird shit on my PC and that I can install it how many times I want on whichever PC I want.

And why would someone ever say "Ratty" is beyond me.

Anything more than a one-time cd key input is intrusive in my opinion. Anyway, game looks awesome; downloading the demo.

Agreed. That's what Blizzard does and it works great because all of their games are multiplayer and only one CD key can be on bnet at a time. Piracy isn't going to be stopped and if you make your DRM a hassle for your consumers then they either aren't going to buy your product or they are going to pirate it without the bullshit.

Just played through the demo, and it was an amazing experience.

Won't be picking it up though, since offline-only coop does absolutely nothing for me.

I remember playing LV1+2 many years ago. Might give this a try.

I facepalmed a bit when I saw the "preview hype" around the game compare it to Prince Of Persia and Flashback. Like Black said, it's almost like Lost Vikings.

I would like to play. Can't. For various reasons. I should try to get my hands on a super and Lost Vikings now though....
    Damn that'd be fun.

Well, I'm playing this game now. It's OK so far, but after having played for 2 hours I feel like I'm closer to the end than the beginning (just started Level 9). The 3 characters you control are uninteresting (in their development) but their abilities are pretty cool, the enemies are 95% skeletons, there's a "collect-'em-all" thingie in there and the music is meh.

But the physics puzzles are really fun and interesting. As is, this game looks to be another Portal, except I doubt any gaming memes are gonna come out of this. No GLaDOS in this game, but there are more weighted (companion) cubes here than you can shake a stick at.

If I can offer one hint to people that are playing this game, it's this: When you get to the drawbridge (you'll know it when you see it) DO NOT PULL THE LEVER TO LOWER THE BRIDGE before having a good look around first.

You're gonna start running into a lot more instances like that where if you're not paying attention, you'll end up knocking experience bottles off-screen/in lava so that you won't be able to get them again.

Watch out for the mine cart.

Too late for that. The thing is I didn't even touch it. I just looked at it and it started rolling off on its own.

I've also heard horror stories about the last level (15). After another 2 hours of playing, I've reached level 13.

    Man, this game is short.

That's too bad, I guess I've never really seen an epic platformer though.

Do the different difficulty settings affect the puzzles at all or just up damage taken and reduce damage given or something? And in your playthrough have you found all secrets and xp and everything?

Just wondering if there's more to sink your teeth into after the first time through. Four to six hours is pretty short but really are there any platformers out there that take that long or longer? Just Castlevania: SoTN, the undisputed champ I think, though i bet someone familiar with it can burn through that game too.

I played the demo and thought it was phenomenal, think it's worth 30 bucks?

    Psychonauts.

Unless you mean "epic" as in the depiction of mythological heroes struggling against colossal odds.

Nah I was just talking length.

Pyschonauts eh? I've heard good things, that one got by me though, I'll have to look for it.

Edit: Ooo, on steam for 10 bucks, sweet.

Speaking of Psychonauts, here's a small "heads-up" for that game: The last level of the game is bloody hard. You'll be cussing and screaming at it after a few tries. Don't be surprised that it might take you over 20 tries to get through the hardest part of it.

But here's the thing: The last level of Trine is exactly the same. You have to keep moving upwards, and you have to do it quickly or die. And all the time the game is trying its best to delay you in somewhat cheesy ways, like obstacles appearing in mid-air right in front of you.

But in the case of Psychonauts, you want to see what's beyond. The game has such a good story, fascinating characters and loads of humour. Trine...has none of that. There is no reason for anyone to torment themselves to try to finish the last level. It'll take you between 4-6 hours to reach the final level, only to be stonewalled by such atrocious design decisions.

Trine isn't worth $30. It's not worth $20 and it's highly doubtful it's worth $10. Just forget about it and buy Psychonauts instead.

Man if it's that short I'll wait till it drops down to around 15 quid. If it ever does.
Gotta love games which forgo the difficulty ramp for a difficulty wall.

Looks like I'll give pyschonauts a try first.

Ridiculous difficulty isn't a big deal to me though, guess I'm a bit of a masochist. I spent a solid month of my early 20s conquering Ghost's N Goblins on the NES, a game designed specifically for arcades to deprive America of it's entire supply of quarters. And after the first time through the game ends in a black screen that says "This room was an illusion of satan" or something and you get to go through it again except everything is harder.

Much hashish was required. Ah to be 21 and unemployed again.

Too bad about Trine, do they give you a reason for subsequent plays though?

Not to mention that after climbing up that horrible tower; you don't even get a cool bossfight, just a crappy cutscene.
