Problems with linux PLEASE HELP

Evil Banana

Still Mildly Glowing
Ive got the Linux mint system..and im trying desperately to play fonline Via Wine..now the problem is that Wine in itself wont connect to the internet so i cant play anything online if i play it through wine and its the only way i can play games really..so my question is HOW DO I FIX THAT!

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS IN ADVANCE

P.S

Please dont give me a link to the technical instruction manual with a bunch of coding language because i dont understand it..if you have the time walk me through it ok?..where do i go what exactly to click and type in and whatever..i am not a hacker as you can clearly see this must be a fairly simple problem for the majority of users but i am a dumbass in that field..

Wine should actually use your existing network connection(s).
I suggest you ask about this on a dedicated Linux/Wine forum.

Well, not to be a dick dude, but you may be using the wrong OS if you don't speak techno-babble. Linux isn't exactly user friendly. That being said, the forums Bux mentioned would be your best bet.

trust me having linux was NOT my idea..but im stuck with it..i got a shitty computer and hassling with a whole system reboot hardly seems worth the time and effort..i just need this one thing to help me survive it till i upgrade my tech..

Got ya. Wish I could help, but I have a rather limited knowledge of Linux. I did use Ubuntu I believe, but I had problems with it as well. Personally I wouldn't run Linux without a dual OS, but if you have no choice I can understand that.

I would go to the Wine website, search for similar issues with FOnline, or a comparable game, and go from there. Wine is known for having issues I believe, so know that going in. Also, you don't need to be a hacker to figure that shit out. Most of the time, intensive searching (maybe 5 or 6 hours sometimes) can reveal results. I think your PC info might be helpful as well. What kind of computer do you have? It is hard to say without more information, but I guarantee you this isn't the best place to look to find out. Really, try a Linux, Wine, or FOnline Forum because that would be the most likely place to find the answers you seek.

Unless someone else knows something....

i think the problem really is setting up a proxy or something..but idk how to do that..i wish i had the patience to search forums for 5-6 hours reading every post hoping for some result..im just hoping someone here had experience with a similar problem and can shorten that time for me..ill leave the post open at any rate if anyone can help me..

Understood. In my experience it usually boils down to searching for countless hours for answers. Results may vary . :D

I have LinuxMint on my laptop, but I've never tried any kind of online connecting stuff through Wine. The simplest thing I can think of is to make sure you're using an account with admin access. I'd ask on the Mint forum:

http://forums.linuxmint.com/

...or maybe a Wine forum somewhere.

In general Mint is very easy to use, IMO.

I find that very hard to believe. Nobody uses "admin"/root accounts in linux for daily use. There's sudo if you need super user privileges. And you only need those for installing programs or changing system settings.

Switching to win only takes a couple of hours depending on your specs. Add to that an hour for installing programs and games and your problems are gone. I highly recommend you do that since linux is installed against your will and you lack the knowledge to maintaine it.

i have a shit system that isent worth the effort ok...i dont even have windows on me to install..nor do i know how would i crash this system in the first place

Think of it as an opportunity to learn something about Linux, which is an excellent OS if you're willing to get up to speed with it.
