It Wandered In From the Wastes
I can not really recommend sites or photos, but it is possible to go into the old "underground city" of beijing, which was build in case of nuclear war. Never been their but I heard it is pretty big and it doesn't cost that much. So if you are ever in the area you should check it out. I will soon I guess

Thanks Roflcore I'd not come across that. Just googled it a bit and supposedly the tunnels were originally meant to accommodate all of Beijing's six million inhabitants.

Sure puts the feeble efforts in the UK in perspective.

It's gone on my to do list now. Long long list though...

This Swiss baby on the other hand really looks the biz. Didn't expect the bicycles tho!
the swiss still have bicycle mounted reserve army troops. :)

hey man, whatever works. :P

Here's a fine gallery of the largest bunker in the UK, built in the 50's. Includes some nice panoramic images.

Check out the deep fat fryers in the kitchens - a world without chips? Nooooo! (French fries for US readers).

And Lamson tubes for internal memos. Where is Hermes Conrad when you need him?

they really should repurpose these areas instead of letting them rot or demolish them.

Yeah it's a real shame. That last place would make a great museum of the cold war or something.

Be good to see those deep fat fryers in action at last. :)
