Resting/Recouperating Taxed Skills

First time out of the vault
I'm trying to find out how to rest so that my doctor and first aid skills can be used again. I get told things like "the strain might kill you". I've spent over an hour looking for the answer (and getting side tracked by other interesting threads) so I'm hoping not to get shouted at for not solving such a basic problem myself. I just don't understand how to rest. MY character has been awake for a few weeks now.. does he even need to sleep/rest? It's my second day playing!

On a side note, I think banning gmail, yahoo etc. email addresses is a bit stupid. I only have a gmail address so was forced to sign up to an uncommon free mail provider in order to sign up (I'm sure this is the opposite of what the moderators are hoping for but I can't contact them until after I've registered = Catch 22).

 Click on the interface button that says PIP during gameplay. Once you do this it will pull up the Pipboy screen at the top next to The month day year and time (example: 01 dec 2242 1400) it will show a little yellow bell, from this you can sleep however long you want but you can only use doctor and first aid 3 times per day only.
:lalala:
You can also use items called stimpaks to heal yourself. :freak:

But sadly enough having to actually explain something like this after playing Fallout for years this seems so elementary.

next time, go through the games read me file :deal: and tutorial and you will learn all the basic functions of the game.
Also their is a search bar you can use in the NMA forums, find it and make use of it.

Also dont question the authority, they say No MSN/Yahoo/AOL so be it! It has strange instances of biting you in the hind quarters to question the masters. :moon: :lightning: . Your not a muttie are you?

Bullshit. For one, there are several ways to contact us, including checking the board for e-mail adresses.
Secondly, there are very valid reasons for banning those e-mail adresses, mainly pertaining to abuse in the past.

Too late Mofo! You asked a stupid question and they answered before I could warn you.

You do realise there's a manual, don't you? Hint: look for the pipboy.

Press 'Z' or enter the PIPBoy screen ('P') and use the bell icon. Also, resting occurs after certain dialogues (example: Crash House)

Also, it is assumed your character rests during travels - you can see by the regenerating Hit Points...

About the "strain", it is a time issue, after using a healing skill three times successfully, you can't do it again for a period of time. Refer to Per's guide for specifics... or wait until he puts them here. :D

See, there are ways, if you put your mind to it... ;) We just want to avoid the trash who doesn't.

But that's not the issue. Address the Website forum for any further comments.

My address -> silencer@nma-fallout.com is publily visible, as are addresses of a number of other Admins who can help you in such case.

Don't think so much of the first post (starts off nicely enough) although the second has a better helpfullness to insult ratio...

Thanks Silencer for not slating me at all!

I think now I know what was meant by a quote I read somewhere that the users of this forum have been refined and distilled into glistening gems of hatred! Maybe that's an exageration, and I didn't help by thorwing the word 'stupid' in, in the first instance but I'm sure you'll understand I was fustrated at that moment.

I did search the forum but got 300 results and couldn't determine any relevant ones. I have however, found the manual, cleverly hidden on the disc.

I have also learned a clever way of contacting admin without a 'contact us' link. Thanks all...
