Rise of Nations Gold FPS issues (vista)

Mutoes

Mildly Dipped
So do you have any experiences of this game under vista.

It runs nicely until i actually get to the playing part. It drops fps to 18 -23 and pretty much stays there. Ive never played this one before so i cant really tell what is considered good fps for this one but it feels somewhat choppy, its playable but its starting to bug me big time.

I have a laptop,(aspire 5520), not really a gaming one but it exceeds recommandations for this game easily. Its a 2d isometric rts game in style of age of empires and civilization. It came out somewhere around 2003.

Ive done the usual, checked directx, updated drivers for sound and visual. Re-installed game, tried compatibility modes... Other games like war3 and red alert 2 run just fine.

Im basically asking if the vista is whats causing this or if this game tryly runs this slow, or if you happen to know some miracle cure it would be truly appreciated.

Oh and my specs are
Amd athlon 64 x2 1.8ghz, 3gigs of ram and geforce 7000m, vista home premium SP1.

Thank you.

I did have troubles with RON on Vista Ultimate 64 pre SP1 release. It's been so long, I couldn't tell you what exactly went wrong, just that I have not tried installing since.

It's definitly not normal, I played it with a slower pc much better. Funny thing that a MS supported game does not run smooth..did you check their messageboards?

Do I've been all RON played out so I just shrugged and installed AOEIII.

If you have not all ready tried it, you might try running the program in the WINXP SP2 shell.

You can never play out RON, its one of the greatest mp games when it comes to massiv warfare. 2vs2 on continents is just fun when the entire ocean is full with warships shooting at each other :D

Well i didnt find anything too fitting from any boards or so but got it to work with my friends old laptop that im keeping for him so i guess its not that much of a problem anymore, weird tho.
I read from some googled random messageboard post that RON just might not like some GPU:s for some unrevealed reason. I dont know if theres much truth to that but anyways....
Fun game in multiplayer. Its a lot faster than i was expecting, and actually that was what i was searching for lan meetings. I get to modern age in 1hr easily. Though im playing on the fastest speed.
