Fallout 2 mod Status on Mutant Rising?

First time out of the vault
Does anyone know what is happening with Mutant Rising mod for Fallout 2? I've checked their page today couple of times and got only server errors. It would be sad if all that work got nuked.

Well, I was building a map for a certain major town today, chipping away as they say. As for the main page, I think it will be fixed in a day or so.

There are only two locations left that require mapping, both are major locations with multiple maps...the scripting is about 50% complete. Other members focus on design, dialogue and scripting, I stick to art, critters and mapping.

A sneak preview - mind you I might change it later, you never know.

Thanks for info! I was worried foor a while :). Keep up the good work, if we would ever meet IRL, I'd buy you a beer (or prefered beverage)!

I also froze in horror when the webpage didn't load.
Great to see you guys going for it! :salute:

Holly crap, I was sure this project is dead. I'm patiently waiting for this mod as I wasn't "convinced" by Nevada and Olympus for some reason. I really liked the quality of map design and writing in the demo.

Just curious, do you guys use sfall or other engine expansions for this mod?

We use Sfall, and the resolution patch...I think Ardent might have a few other things in the working as well, don't quote me though.

The project had a pretty quiet year in 2015...a few people left due to real-life commitments, a few started work in various gaming companies, one became a Doctor of chemistry, but regardless we chip away. The game is in good shape...:salute:

The project is not dead! I think the only way for that to happen would be if myself and ardent actually died!

As for one of us becoming a doctor - don't trust him he has shifty looking eyes....

I have to confess, I've never played the demo....but there have been many improvements to the game since it was released. The initial map will get a slight makeover after I've finish the rest of the maps. There are elements about it I don't quite like.

Hey guys, wanted to know about a update how the mod is doing. On the main site its still in touched for 3 years and I kinda feel the mod will never arrive.

All maps are finished...I'm currently just going through them again checking for problems. I mapped about 60% of the game, and I'm very particular about quality. The map I worked on today was nicely designed (by some else) , but I enhanced it further with a few touches...it looks great for a 20 year old game. I've paid close attention to the lighting for players who like the ambience a night time setting.

Our scriptor is tied down with life matters ATM, basically just two major towns need scripting and the game is finished.

If you guys kept quality on the same level as in your demo I will die with no regrets after playing it!

You mean the old demo? New maps are way better than that.

No thanks, but thank-you for your offer (just curious was your skills are - skilled Fallout scripters are needed ). I've taken a small break from MR over Christmas and new year, soon I'll get started again.

I only have 2 more maps to rework (clean and improve) after which all the maps are finished. The game still needs many small fixes with animations, little enhancements, etc. I'm "hoping" for a Christmas 2020 release, but don't quote me.

Here's something to look at...

Now is there any way of getting our hands on at least some of MR scenery before the eventual release?

That demo is so old, so much has been improved since it was released. As for the artwork, after the game is released feel free to use whatever, if it help people with their own mods (just credit us). Before the release I'll make a pass through the artwork and remove any unused junk, which these mods do accumulate over the years...

Just note I've built approximately 2000 tiles for the game, they work exactly how and where I needed them in game, but for the casual modder they might struggle to find the correct place to use them, especially the new roof tiles. Just refer to the maps to see how they are used. New roof tiles have been designed to create the illusion of multi story buildings, etc...

Pixote is so amazing he outlived everyone that was working on the project. He absorbed their knowledge into his being and has worked tirelessly since then to finish one of the oldest Fallout mods still unreleased. Give him lots of radiation anytime he posts.
