Recently I've started having unexpected crashes during map editing. My suspicion is that it's related to the FT Improver program, but the problem is that it seems using that program has created some sort of reliance in some maps (e.g. loading some maps in the vanilla FT Tools program fails to load any tiles at all).
I made a post recently about the crash, thinking it was just related to a specific map that I was building, but now with further testing and editing I've discovered this crashing seems to be happening across maps, even sometimes on original game maps. (I haven't tried just playing to see if the same kind of crash happens, this is only testing while modding.
The program will crash, and often the next time I start up the game/editor, it will chug at about 3 frames per second (even in the main menu). Even after opening and closing this chugging will persist, the only way to get rid of it seems to be trying to create a new game or load a save.
I thought it might just be my computer having issues, but the problem doesn't happen on other programs or in windows, just in game. It could still be something related to my PC though, like maybe fallout tactics modding puts strain somewhere unexpected? I don't know. What I know for sure is that it wasn't always like this, I have modded dozens of big maps with hundreds of entities and triggers with no issues like this for years. I'm just stumped as to what would be causing it.
I will continue testing on this laptop, and I need to run more tests on my PC too, but it seems like something has just put a wrench in the works or maybe there's some kind of memory leak issue that others might be aware of... Other modders of big projects might know what I'm talking about? Or maybe not. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
