And again Capcom shows how you should update a classic. Yeah I know, it's yet more Street Fighter. But Capcom realizes that when someone is playing a Street Fighter game, that's kinda what they want, unlike some other companies who think you should want a totally different game... *cough*

Anyone else think this looks awesome? Classic SFII action with pretty new graphics, new characters, and updated gameplay. What more could you ask for? The 3D characters look a little odd at first glance, but once you get used to them they're great (I think).

Can't wait.

i think it'll be pretty good, but i'm still not really into visual style. i'm sure i'll be able to get past that when i actually play it, though, since SFII Turbo is one of my favorite games.

it's going to be kind of hard to get into SF again, considering how much i've been playing the Virtua Fighter games the past couple of years.

I am really excited about this game. Haven't played a new Street Fighter in ages.

there's a PC version in the works, and it'll supposedly be released simultaneously with the console versions. you'll probably want a gamepad of some sort.

The best SF in the whole series is SF3: 3rd Strike.
The parry system is impressive and works really well.
Until this day, there's still a lot of people playing it in arcade (where I live)

Tekken and Soul Calier series are taking fighting game into 3D era (Virtual Fighter was the first btw), even King Of Fighter is taking the ride. Still Capcom proofs that you don't need to have tons of eye-candy in a game. What makes a game fun is still its gameplay element.

This is something every game developer should learn. *cough* :ugly:

Source? I've only seen that it's going to be released for the 360 and PS3. It'd be great if there's a PC version, especially if there's online matches.

Yeah, this is something every developer should understand before making a game; but if you're making a fighting game, then there should be absolutely no argument about it. i never played 3rd Strike, i hear it's amazing. To me, Virtua Fighter has always had the best gameplay (since number 2, but i didn't play number 3- only 1, 2, 4, Evo, and 5), and the amount of depth in the newer titles is absolutely astonishing. Every fighter (as far as i remember) has a least 2 different combat stances (some even have 4), each with a whole new set of punches, kicks, blocks, reversals, counter attacks, throws, and evasion techniques. The idea is that you stick with one character to learn and master all of their possible ins-and-outs. On top of that, it also has some of the best graphics i've ever seen in a fighting game. The two can go hand-in-hand quite well.

As for the PC version of Street Fighter, here's a source: http://kotaku.com/5011263/street-fighter-iv-officially-coming-to-xbox-360-ps3-pc

i myself have never been a fan of fighting games on the pc, although i did have the very first Street Fighter running on DOS as a kid (although i don't think it was official- my brother was the one who managed to get it). Online matches will likely make it in to the game, i do not know if there is an official announcement, but i'm sure they'll be available on all platforms. Online fighting games almost always end up lagging quite a bit, i hope Capcom can work around that. To me, though, fighting games have always been about the local multiplayer.

Speaking of King of Fighters, anyone hear about the new one coming out?

It looks really well done. Thumbs-up on my side.

I still can't imagine myself playing Street Fighter with anything other than the classic red-spherical-topped joystick, with the candy-red, blue, and green buttons. :D

Ah, the good ol' days. I still remember scrounging for quarters to play SFII Turbo at the arcade. Would be awesome to get one of those old cabinets and set up a system with all SF II Turbo, Alpha, 3rd Strike, and this new one all in it...

Edit: Thanks for the link Conflictingideas!

I just checked the video and it sure looks very promising...

This is not my type of game, but it sure brought back some old memories.

Im picking it up today for the low low price of 80 cdn(!)

seriously, prices for videogames are getting ridiculous

It looks amazing but I can't imagine getting 60 bucks worth out of it. It looks like I'd get bored with it the same day. The only way I'd pay that much for it is if my friends expressed a lot of interest because it does look like it could be a crap load of fun to play with a bunch of friends.

never really cared for street fighter after SF2.
Street Fighter 3 also looked nice but still the only street fighter i spent time on was Street Fighter 2 back in 1992-1993, ah...memories!

I was a huge fan of sf3 back when second strike came out. Before that I was hugely into the alpha series and of course SF2: World warrior.

I gotta say, with the art style and unique visuals, the movelists and the character balancing, I'm pretty pleased with this latest incarnation of street fighter.

I recommend any fighting game fan or fan of street fighter to pick this up.

Stupidity aside, I really wish I could play this with friends. At the moment, I'm about 800 miles away from them so it's not really an option. :puppy-dog:

I'll be waiting for a price drop on this one. I love SF, but not $80 worth of love, that's for sure.

I'm having a blast online right now actually(beating the shit out of shoto noobs, with my uh..shoto.) the cool thing, is that while you play arcade mode, you can set it so that anytime you can be challenged online(doesn't require friends to be on a playlist or anything) that way, you can actually fight the computer while waiting for a match to set up.
