Using S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system

Do you think Interplay would be pissed if i would make a free game using a skill system like S.P.E.C.I.A.L. with some minor mods?
Does anyone here know where i can find the full specs of the system and the way it works ?

I think Interplay has more important things to worry about than battling freeware software. And if they will, you can rename it - after all, that's how SPECIAL was 'born', to avoid copyright conflicts with GURPS.
