Video card question..

Nonagon

Still Mildly Glowing
Hey, so I want to upgrade my video card on my system so that I can play Farcry 2 for the time being, until I get a new computer, and I need your guys' experience/expertise to decide.

I currently have a dated ATI Radeon x1600 AGP card which I'm pretty sure Farcry 2 won't support. The card is only 256 MB and I'm looking at a card which got some good reviews.

Now, the card I am looking at is the EVGA GeForce 7600 GT which, like I said, I hear is one of the best AGP video cards I can get with 512 mb and it's AGP, which is the only thing my mobo supports. So, my question is, is the one that I already have better, or is this a much better replacement?

Thanks.

No. You're much better off putting that ~$109 towards a new computer.

You also need to take into consideration that today's games are INCREDIBLY cpu bound. So unless you're already on a multicore CPU; your CPU is going to bottleneck you to the point where you're going to see little if any gains in frames per second by upgrading your GPU.
