Ok guys...we seriously need to take account of what roleplay threads are actually still active, and who are in them. I mean, waiting a week between posts is rather silly, and there are way too many good ideas floating out and around here that never had a chance to get off the ground.

So which roleplay threads are people still interested in anymore? Can't always rely on Welsh to have to gravedig them back into existence because, honestly, that isn't fair to any one person.

Yeah, you're right. But it is really difficult to get players, specially in this part of the year (or so Welsh says) :?

As far as I am concerned, I have a lot to study still, al least until the end of the month, then I am back into action. And when I am not studying, I am mostly writing some of my stuff.

But enough excusing myself, what is needed is the will to post, the excitement for new ideas and the time of course. What is also needed is the players, and that means a lot of motivated people

I will post a new Idea for a roleplay soon, If enough people are interested we can all make that one grow. I am designing this roleplay to be motivating and little time consuming, this way more players will be able to post.

For example, I loved the Idea Welsh had for his last roleplay, bur it was a bit too much time consuming for the time availability I had at the moment, and perhaps a bit too complicated.

Why?

-Long posts: long posts require time to be made, no so much for writing but for as for thinking what you are going to write.

-Multiple characters: when the characters the player has to manage are multiple, the time it takes to develop a good post tends to multiply as well.

As for in wich thread I am currently active, that would be "Down in Mexico chapter 2" still waiting for someone to post... Hey, you were in this thread as well Fireblade, have any ideas on how your character is going to fight the master pets?

Well I made my post for the Mexico thread before your's, I believe. However, I do not wish to auto all sorts of players along, as I feel bad about using others as cannon fodder to protect my own character. Regardless, he is a scout, and so he will fight as a scout does:

Long range sniping

or

Silent death "Aka knife in thy face"

Yup, without the other player participating is kind of difficult, I guess since I am managing that thread I will make the choices for them because of their "lack of participation".

As for how your character would act, I think the
Silent death "Aka knife in thy face"
would be better.

As Tom Petty once said, the Waiting is the hardest part.

Yeah... Fuck it. Don't wait for someone to post, just post.

The problem may have more to do with this feeling that you are singing to an empty room. But essentially, your audience shouldn't matter much.

A person should write not because they are compelled to, and not because they want to please an audience. They should write because they want to, even if they are the only one telling themselves the story.

I admit it that I have been a bit lax. Part of my fault in this has been waiting for people to post.

Which is getting tiresome. You would not believe the number of people who have sent me pms saying "Hey welsh I got this cool idea, what do you think?" Fuck. They spend more time telling what their fucking idea is than just posting it. It's getting tiring. IF you're going to post, then post. If you're not then get lost. Don't waste my time.

You guys have been great, but we have been getting slow. I have a feeling that most of the roleplays on other boards have been getting slow as well. But that is hardly the answer.

Lately I have been thinking more about short stories of my own and in different genres. Empty World is typical of the kind of stuff I am thinking about. I have a few short-story ideas I want to draft out by end of summer, and this place is a bit distracting of that. Not to mention a dissertation that needs to be done.

So I have been pulling back. Time to let someone else take the initiative a bit and kick up the roleplays, come up with the ideas and start them up.

I'd like to see Wasteland continued- but since I basically adopted that idea from someone who abandoned it, and since it has changed from something more comic to something more dark, and since some of the would-be writers don't write, I am not so sure. The party split in half (not my suggestion but I was in no place to say no).

Lone Wanderers has been collecting dust for a long time, though it could be wrapped up. Major players are just no longer active.

KIlrick- I would like to kick in again. We still have some of the core here.

Empty World- I admit that's a hard thread to follow. YOu guys don't even have Fallout to use as a worldview there.

Zombie thread- would like to see more action there but those are new guys pretty much starting out.

It would be nice to see the Mexico thread go up too.

As for lack of Roleplayers, if you want I can post a link at another RP board I know. The guys who ysed to be at Vault 0, if that means anything to you.

Mikey, I think part of the problem is that roleplayes are all scattered about the boards and never in sufficient numbers to do lots of roleplays.

I have been hoping that by stepping back others might take more initiative. That's happened to some extent.

But the other theory is that the more people write, the more momentum is produced and the more you attract dedicated roleplayers.

It's a toss up. Frankly, I don't much care about any turf war. I do care about the writing. There just doesn't seem to be enough of it.

I love rolepl;aying, but I'm waiting for other people to show that they're still in. Can't roleplay alone because then it becomes fiction writing.

But it more or less is fiction writing, but done cooperatively. SO post and don't hesitate.

Seriously you and Cadian sent me a lot of Pms but haven't posted for crap. Get on with it.
