    Hi.

A few questions to whose, who played the game for a few days now.
Need the info for my char build, so hopefully someone here has spare time for me ;)

First: Is there any other difference between guns/energy weapons then their "style"?
And: The skills science and repair, do they support one of these weapon types especially? Like, science has more blue prints for energy weapons and repair for guns?
Also: Are there weapon upgrades for both weapon types? An equal number of them?

Second: How does a special like perception influences the damage from energy weapons? Or is this influence about accuracy or something else? How does perception influences lockpicking?

    Thanks in advance!

Perception adds points to those skills, that's all.

It looks like energy weapons have higher minimum damage dealt on damage threshold, but normal weapons have such things as armor piercing and hollow point rounds.

So generally energy weapons work better vs. heavy armored foes and animals with thick hides.

I've found a lot of weapon mods for normal guns, but only a scope and something else for lazer rifles. Maybe it was just my luck though. but it looks like there're more types of guns than energy weapons for me.

However almost all uniques I've found (around 10) are energy weapons.

You know, I don't think that I've found.a single unique except for That Gun.

I have not looked online or in the guide book for any help yet....

I have found a couple uniques:

    1 that gun
    2 Recharging rifle?
3 a sawed off shotgun (from old lady gibson).... she attacked me for no reason in the wasteland (glitch) and she died for it.
4 Found a unique sword too.

    As for weapon mods:
    Service Rifle receiver (forged)
    Scope for 9mm
    Long barrel for .357
    Beam splitter for laser rifle
    Scope for laser rifle

I like the game much more than FO3... especially on Hard Core mode.

Though I do need a house... its annoying to not be able to hoard everything that I may need later to build/craft items... of which there seems to be 10x as much to do than in FO3

There is this one airport, that the NCR uses as a base. Forgot the name. If you do some quests there and get some reputation up, there is this chick named Boyd (might be spelled wrong, oh well). Do her quests and after one of them, I don't remember which, she gives you a weapon called "The Machine". That's all I am going to say.

Eh, Boyd gave me nothing after all. Probably a glitch with "free quests", or maybe my way of solving that.

I've found a lot of uniques in different locations, for example in that rocket science museum there's a really nice weapon. And our archenemy who shot us in the head also has a 9mm unique pistol.

How did you go about with the interogation on that centurion?

I think that might have been the quest I got "The Machine" from.

I did it by using intelligence of 8. Your char actually speaks Latin to him, lol.

Edit: OK, I checked the wiki and it turns out it has nothing to do with that. There is this guy named Contreras that you must talk to for some investigation quest. If you hack his computer (I think it was Hard), you can then turn him in to Boyd. After that, she confiscates the weapons that the guy smuggled form the NCR and she gives you "The Machine" as a reward a little bit later.

Ah, I didn't do that part, thank you. I thought I'm done with the M.Camp, but it looks like not.

Also their Chef always has 0 caps and no food in his inventory. Is it some glitch or some mod I use which breaks him?

You have to arrange for him to get better supplies.

I've seen a unique sword whose name I forget, Maria (unique 9mm pistol) the All American (not sure what this is a unique of, maybe a Marksman Rifle).

Energy Weapon users will orgasm once they explore the first two levels of REPCONN HQ/Office. Unique Plasma Rifle (that hits like a truck), tons of MFCs, and not one but TWO copies of "Nikola Tesla and You."

Energy weapons lack iron sights. I had to give up on making an energy weapon based character because of this, I go through ammo *way* too fast to actually use the things given how often I miss with them. Hardcore mode makes this even worse since energy ammo is much heavier than bullets.

Energy weapons do have some custom ammo types, but they all (possibly excepting the player made ones, I never got the ammo perk for energy weapons) increase the wear and tear on the weapon.

Laser weapons do lack iron sights for some odd reason (maybe if you scope them that isn't the case?). However, the unique plasma rifle from REPCONN has iron sights. I'm thinking the iron sights are dependent on the actual weapon and mods it possesses.
