Hell, when Bethesda bought the IP we trolled their forums so hard they ended up having to disable avatars.

Insofar as casting and props are concerned the show does a really good job, despite taking too much into account 4's designs
If the writers are smart they could even patch up things in California by explaining House bailed them out post nuke. It's in his interest after all.
Edit: I'm also going to bet that by the end of the season they'll blow out whatever base Vault Tec has underground and then move towards the East Coast.
