I don't know if this a problem that can be solved with the standard FTE but I will ask anyway.
Currently the longest range weapon is the M2 50cal. In real life its accuracy is much shorter than its range. No way someone shooting an M2 will hit someone sitting at the max range of an accurized 7.62/.308 sniper rifle unless that M2 has been accurized by Carlos Hathcock. Hathcock has been dead for years.
Mutants outshooting an 7.62 sniper is lottery grade luck. Much less shooting from the hip. But the game does it with ease and comes at a point in the game where the player is really nurturing their snipers for the late game phases. So you must either reload constantly in the mutant phase of the game or lose/waste characters. I know it's just a game but the creators got their weapon science wrong.
I see 3 alternatives. Increase the range of the sniper rifle; shorten the range of the M2; create the Barrett rifle. I'd be happy with any of the options. Alas, I am no modder. I can use the FTE to tweak characters or add an item to a cell, but that's hitting my limits. If the FTE can do this then I need some instruction. If the FTE can't help then I have to beg for a mod. To be honest, the game is due for a weapons update in general. It sits at a 1970's weapon data level that is still somewhat inaccurate even for then. The creators used old ballistic weapon stats and read them poorly. But that's really beyond my ken. No way I could handle a hex editor.
Could I get some thoughts or advice, please?
