So, Chris Avellone recently tweeted that he believes the odds of Bethesda giving the license to Fallout to someone else, especially Obsidian, aren't very high. And you know what I said? Fuck that shit! We're No Mutants Allowed! We'll make a Fallout game that's just as good as New Vegas! A true sequel to our beloved franchise! We'll show the fools at Bethesda how to make a great FPSRPG. Then I realized what actually needs to be done in order for this to work. Bear with me. - We'd need to overhaul the dialogue and RPG systems to return to how Fallout: New Vegas worked. - Once we finagled the engine to how it's supposed to be, we'd need to assemble a team on the level of Skywind to get it done anytime soon. - We'd need to make new graphics, items, enemies, etc. - We'd need to not only determine a good location, but successfully map out a large landmass. - We'd need to populate that landmass with cities, towns, landmarks, and all sorts of stuff to make the world seem lively, while also giving each location an interesting story and characters. - We'd need to create a story that's interesting, compelling, sensible and well-written. - We'd need to enlist or hire voice actors. - We'd need to bugtest the hell out of it. Under ideal conditions, and assuming development starts as soon as the GECK drops, we'd probably get it done around the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, if not later. I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to work on this considering it might not ever get done.
