So, Chris Avellone recently tweeted that he believes the odds of Bethesda giving the license to Fallout to someone else, especially Obsidian, aren't very high. And you know what I said? Fuck that shit! We're No Mutants Allowed! We'll make a Fallout game that's just as good as New Vegas! A true sequel to our beloved franchise! We'll show the fools at Bethesda how to make a great FPSRPG.

Then I realized what actually needs to be done in order for this to work. Bear with me.

    - We'd need to overhaul the dialogue and RPG systems to return to how Fallout: New Vegas worked.
    - Once we finagled the engine to how it's supposed to be, we'd need to assemble a team on the level of Skywind to get it done anytime soon.
    - We'd need to make new graphics, items, enemies, etc.
    - We'd need to not only determine a good location, but successfully map out a large landmass.
    - We'd need to populate that landmass with cities, towns, landmarks, and all sorts of stuff to make the world seem lively, while also giving each location an interesting story and characters.
    - We'd need to create a story that's interesting, compelling, sensible and well-written.
    - We'd need to enlist or hire voice actors.
    - We'd need to bugtest the hell out of it.

Under ideal conditions, and assuming development starts as soon as the GECK drops, we'd probably get it done around the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, if not later. I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to work on this considering it might not ever get done.

If this were to be done, you would need to rework the entire Perk System, as if Perks were reintroduced to dialogue, a maximum of 70 perks doesn't seem enough. To be honest, it would be much easier just to work with the New Vegas engine.

I didn't pay money for FO3 and FO4. Still, I'd like to see modders work on the right path. Now we already have the NCR ranger armors. Maybe it's worth if we make it DLC size, so the project won't die.

My hope for FO4 is all on Fallout: Lonestar at this point.

I seem to remember a modder saying that, from looking at the code, it appeared that the perk and dialogue systems are hard coded, so... good luck making a good Fallout 4 total conversion with those two crippling "features" stapled onto the game.
Just forget about Fallout 4 and, pretend Fallout New Vegas was the last game, assuming MCA is right and the franchise is stuck with Bethesda.

MCA is a pretty trustworthy source and, no Beth employee will ever rule out a spin-off but that doesn't mean we'll get one.
It means we get to wait until our hope rots and, despair sets in, until our minds melt and, everything we hate becomes constant. Fuck that, fuck Fallout, fuck Bethesda.

Well, it would be easier to make a smaller area like Dead Money or Old World Blues. Make it bigger if it works, just like the original fallout.

Wasn't one of the first mods to come out a revamped dialogue system?

Feel free to steal my ideas if you want, I'm coming up with them specifically for my Fallout 3 retrospective and won't be using them elsewhere simply because they're 100% Fallout-centric.

    http://www.radkatsu.uk/2016/04/reconstructing-fallout-3-part-12/

Here I talk about my main faction to replace the BoS, but I talk about all sorts in the entire series covering most of the major locations and how I'd change them and make them more logical and consistent. The next couple of parts will add a raider faction + a new location to replace Oasis with something considerably more compelling (and sinister, at least as far as how the location ended up as it is).

I may feel inclined to actually write some stuff if you actually go forward with this, but I make no promises, I'm in a super precarious financial situation and my time needs to go towards writing stuff to fix that before anything else :)

That mod only removes the dialogue wheel, it's still the same 4 choices.

First off with as much work needed to be done, you might as well make a whole new game and speaking of that...

The engine the game is running on runs like shit, if I'm going to play a game it has to be at a constant framerate as fluctuating framerate hurts my eyes.

Like I said before, you might as well wait for a true spiritual successor instead of festering in this carcass called Fallout. It's dead and the chance of getting a Fallout game made by Obsidian is as possible as getting another isometric Fallout or Bethesda pulling their heads out of their asses and making a good game that isn't dumbed down for idiots.

I'd agree that it's too much to bring back traits and skills. Well, Fallout 5 will have no perks!!! Anyway, we know this will only get worse and there's no turning back. I believe modders should have fun at what they do. It's not supposed to be a torture for them. Remember Oblivion's OOO? I wish there's something like that. It's better if they make their own rules.

I mean Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. Skyrim also has combat overhaul mods like Duel and Deadly Combat since the default gameplay is so dull and horrible. Original fallout rules don't work well in FPS anyway. It was a mistake by Bethesda in FO3. In FO4, they just rip-off Skyrim rules, what a disaster.

For example, if we can use Perception in dialogues to dig more background information like Pillars of Eternity.

i know what mod that will nullify (hopefully) most of fo4 flaw, be it voiced protag or shallow rpg feature.
Fallout 4: FROST (aka DUST sequel)

for those who do not know what fallout : dust before, it is a hardcore mode turn up to eleven from vanilla game. it also do much change to entire npc, location and atmosphere in vanilla game to make it much a like crapsack, direct post apocalyptic version of new vegas. just check it out, it awesome!

feel free to add sugestion to upcoming mod as well :)

I love Dead State's spawn system. In Dead State, more zombies will spawn around the maps if the fighting is too loud. Similar system could work with mutants. Deathclaws act like sharks, they will smell the blood and begin the hunt. Watch your back if you are bleeding. "Kill , Loot, and Hide"

Nah, because when that happens, you're putting a strange emphasis on combat that we don't want.
