I'm making a new style readme for all of TMS' mods into *.hta (HTML app) format.

Anyway, enough of the background info... I need to figure out how on earth you get the whole window draggable by clicking inside the body tag? And don't send me to javascript.com Xotor because they don't have this kind of stuff there.

If anyone knows of a script to do this could you inform me of its location?

Danke,

Right

It is completely 100% functional, anyone want the code?

Oh I say screw them too, but you do need to provide support for that browser at least until the market penetration isn't as much.

Now what's funny is that instead of being forced to use the inferior Netscape browser on Linux, you can now use Opera on Linux, which actually renders CSS correctly! Oh my!

I read that Netscape is making plans to ditch Navigator/Communicator as they aren't earning any money with it and they have definitely lost the browser wars.

Now if only Microsoft would port IE to Linux....

Yeah, it really sucks to see all these Netscape-only computers in libraries and computer labs, knowing just how bad Netscape is compared to latest versions of Internet Explorer... I mean, you know it's better, you know you can do great stuff much easier on IE, but a lot of people still use Netscape.

Not gonna happen. Microsoft are using this as a lever to get people interested in their OS, and I must admit win2K is the best OS I've seen so far. However I was helping my friend install it onto an AMD powered comp and not a single app would run without giving a message saying ti was broken.

Anyone know about that bug?

Some people think they're all "l33t" by not using a "Microsoft" browser because they think it adds to the monopolistic power of Microsoft. The sad thing they don't realize is that Nutscrape didn't lose because of Microsoft's "monopoly" it lost because it SUCKS. What is really pathetic is the fact that Nutscrape 6.0 uses more memory than IE 5.5! At 30 megs of memory, Nutscrape 6.0 uses almost ten megs more than IE 5.5.

The IE/Netscape war was capitalism at its best: Providing the populace with the best browser for the best price, free. Netscape was the loser because it produced an inferior browser.

They're missing out on the best browser ever created. I don't give a damn whether IE was made by Microsoft, or by terrorists, or by child rapists, it's just a great browser, and if they ported it to Linux, I'd use it there too.

The best way to destroy your enemies is to sell something better than them for free. Then you can't be considered to be stifling competition because you're not earning money off it.

Didn't happen to me. I installed Win2k on an Athlon 1200mhz at my office and it runs perfectly.

I tried running it on my current AMD K6-III 450mhz and had some problems with my crappy ATI video card.

How much RAM was on your friend's system? 64 megs is a minimum, but even 128 megs is cutting it close. The Athlon system above has 1.5 gig of PC133 RAM (only $117 bucks!) so RAM is not an issue.

Actually there was only one better thing with NN4 compared to MSIE4 and that was the security involved and the fact that there are much fewer exploits compared with MSIE. However this is also probably because NN4 released their browser before w3c produced a document on HTML version 4 standards.

MSIE 5/6 (and outlook, outlook express) also still have a lot of security bugs currently, one of the most deadly was with Outlook\outlook express where an email message could download and run a program without any user input at all.

He has 300 and something MB of ram and an 800 mHz processor. His video card shouldn't be giving him trouble because it's a hercules prophet geforce 2 ultra.

My system is Athlon 1gHz with 128mb DDR SDRAM PC200 with a visiontek Geforce 2 GTS. I think it should be fine for me.

Well they should've updated the browser (the 4.x browser, not the bloated 6.x version).

Doesn't bother me. Then again, I don't use Outlook...

Ouch, you got the PC1600 RAM, and only 128 megs of it? You should get more. You're doing your system a disservice by not. You can get 512 megs of PC1600 for only $70.

I'd like to know where...

Plus are there any really good GeForce 3s out currently? So far I've seen only visiontek and leadtek

Yet another Question to do with HTML Help

I would like to know if it is at all possible to close the window automatically with a CHM file or just move it off the screen? I've tried several techniques and it didn't work as I wanted it to

But I could still do exactly the same with MSIE... but I think you have to have active scripting enabled or something...

VisionTek is just fine and they benchmark the same or better than many of the name-brand cards. You just don't get stuff like extra software with it (big deal), which is what makes the other cards more expensive. They still retain the TV-out and other standard features though.

Hercules is a very good brand, but sells their cards at very high prices (I've seen it as high as $600 for Geforce3).

Asus's Geforce3 card, the 7700 as I believe it is called, is out.
