An observation and a question

Four Suited Jack

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I've noticed that some people have larger avatar images than others.

Does the maximum size increase when you reach a specific post count or something to that effect or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Avatars can have a maximum width of 100 pixels and maximum height of 125 pixels. File size can't be greater than 40 Kb. Says so right in the edit avatar section.

100 x 125 is plenty big.

Oh, ye gods. Why do you need more pixels? Is that pic of the anime chick not large enough to satisfy the weeabooic urges?

Implying I am a weaboo are you?

A weaboo is a person obsessed with anime, I am not obsessed with it, I like what I like and if I like something that originates from Japan then so be it.

Furthermore, I despise weaboos, in my eyes they're people who can not see the value of their own culture and nation so look to another foreign one to satisfy them, I dislike their existence.

I appreciate art, I like various styles, which includes western and anime styles but I do prefer western style in general.

Also, the small avatar size is stopping me from using a lot of western illustrations I have as avatars, just for the record.

Like Voof said the maximum avatar size is 100 x 125. Any picture can easily be re-sized to fit this limit using Microsoft Paint.

How big of an avatar do you need?

It does not matter, it's not my place to request something be changed on a forum that I just joined.

That's what I did with my current one, the problem with that though is that you can not see certain illustrations or cuts from illustrations clearly when reduced in size.

I only ask how big to satisfy my own curiosity.

Also: You just have to learn to resize your images better, so as to not lose so much quality.

Took me two seconds with Photoshop (GIMP would do just as well):

All within the maximum area and file size. Now, you are not obligated to use anything I share, I am just bored.

I do not know how to do that other than the "resize" function.

I don't have photoshop, only the default paint software.

Thanks though.

Also, save them so they are higher quality. Better file types and all that.

Well, there's your problem.

I know, since you asked though, what I'm used to is between 208 x 290 and 150 x 200 so I've never had the problem of resizing an illustration drastically and maintaining the quality.

I'll make do though.

What the devil... that's a bit much.

Anyway, if you want a Photoshop-like program, but don't want to spend the money, GIMP is a free alternative.

In contrast, I think this forum's maximum size is too small, I think it's merely a matter of what we're used to.

Anyway, I appreciate the link, thank you.

If anything, I think this forum's avatar size is too big. Used to be just 100x100. There's no need for big avatars screwing up the layout of the site. I always hate seeing a forum with users' whose avatars are huge. Gives off that, "Hey! Look at me!" vibe.

To each their own I suppose.
