They are stored as idividual files for each direction facing. Even though they are named *.FR0, *.FR1, *.FR2, *.FR3, *.FR4, *.FR5 they are all FRM files with just the extension letters being changed.

Download the demo of Ulead Gif Animator, its very easy to use as well. Also I would make the background transparent

It's a start, but that image needs quite a bit of work before it will be really decent.

There is quite a bit of noise in the image, all these random colored pixels around the movement. The black of the background doesn't match the black of the rest of the image. The figure isn't centered in the image, and moves all over the place. It's quite a large image, and takes quite a long while to load. You also might want to consider redoing your signature, it doesn't really look that good at this point.

Meh this signature isnt really based on this specific forum, so all I really have 'troubles' with is him flinging all over the place.

Im on 56kbps at home (right now) and its not too bad. But like I say if you use Ulead Gif Animator (I think thast whats its called) then you can adjust the alignments of the indvidual frames so that it doesn't "fling" all over the place.

Just made it with animation wizzard of JASC.
I know how to fix it, by editing every single frame so he stays at the same place, but I don't really have the time for that now...

Thats why you should use gif animator it has an option to align each frame it would only take a few minutes to do the whole thing. It doesn't get any easier

Is it possible to make existing GIFs transparent with Ulead Gif Animator?

I think you just need to choose what colour you want to become transparent. By the looks of your signiture you would probably want to select "dark black" as the transparent colour.

By the way it looks much better now it isnt skipping all over the place, good work! Also who is the big blue guy in armour in you signiture?
