Ok, I got the quest from Stark to find and eliminate the raiders and found their base, but only the back entrance (that one with all the radscorpions and traps). So far so good, no trouble getting past that.

But then, when I reach the two doors, there's no way to get them to open and enter the actual base. My lockpicking skill is virtually none, explosives don't blow it open, my character can't force it open with the crowbar (even when buffed out), can't punch it open, either. As a last resort, I went back to my car and got a shotgun to blast the bloody thing open and it APPARENTLY worked, since the graphics of the two doors changed and everything, but the terrain is still unpassable! I still can't move my character beyond the doors. Also, when examining them, the game says they're still locked even though graphically they're wide open.

Then, I saved my game here and tried shooting the raiders from behind the doors to see if they would run towards me and unlock them on the way (I remember doing that on one previous game), but none of the raiders came, even after they ran out of ammo and switched to knives. I suspect that by shooting the door, not only did I not unlock it, I managed to make the passage completely unpassable.

My first few times playing FO2 this didn't happen because I usually get lockpick as a tag skill, but this time I didn't. Also, I'm playing the 1.02 version. Did anybody else have this problem?

Hmm, that's messed up alright. I've never tried opening a door with a shotgun, so I'm not sure how that works. Sorry 'bout that.

You might try exiting to the worldmap then immediately entering again and see if you get the option to use the other entrance. Oh, and if it works, your car will probably stay at the cave entrance, it seems to like it better there for some reason.

If you would have a better outdoorsman skill, you'd be able to find the ladder down to the raider base, so you wouldn't have to deal with traps and scorpions.

There is also another way if you don't want to do that all. Get the quest to deliver briefcase to Mr. Bishop from Michael Moore in VC, then go to the Bishop casino and talk to Bishop agree and take the next job from him. When the dialog is over you can peacefully walk past his guards into his room (upper left corner) and access his safe... Well, the safe is locked and trapped, I'd go for dynamite, not sure if it works. But its worth for trying, since you found other importat things in that safe.

Damn! I started doing New Reno shortly after I posted to see if I could find the map (didn't remember it was Bishop's safe, though, just that it was in some gangster's place, wasn't sure which one). Then my car disappeared after I've done over half the quests in that filthy town (and not in that "chop shop stole your car" quest, it was after I had done that one too) and the latest savegame I have which still contains the car is from 5 game days earlier, when I had just arrived there. I never had the missing car bug in New Reno yet, just the raiders base, so I didn't worry about saving in a thousand different slots every 2 seconds. Should've known better.

Thanks for the help, though! I'll go restart that town then get the map in Bishop's safe to see if the other entrance shows up.
