Fallout 2 pipboy missing...

Hello to all you postnuclear-guys.
I'm a new, old Fallout player ... new because I started last week, old because I was already a big boy when the first one came out.
I write here because my fallout 2 has RP 2.3.3, but I don't know if the problem I have is related to it, at least I don't think.

As I said, I started the saga last week after several years of thinking about it and pressure from my brother (who played them all from 3 onwards, for the first 2 he was too young), and now I would have time. Fallout 1 left as smooth as oil in about 36 hours, achieved.

Fallout 2 is literally driving me crazy: first I had to start again after 12 hours of play due to a bug that corrupted my savegame immediately after I "pimp" Miria in Modoc (the character disappeared and the game crashed). :confused:
Once I started again and reached the Den again, in the Mom quest for the orphanage the dialogue writings disappeared and the game crashed after speaking the first time with the orphan Bobby... I had saved in Klamath and I had to redo a couple of hours of play. :aiee:

Once I learned that with Fallout 2 you have to save often (and by often I mean every 2 minutes) and always in different slots, which Fallout 1 did not make me necessary to do (the whole game went smoothly with just one save slot for all 36 hours, never a crash, I only used 2 mods for localization in my language) I finally arrived in Vault City having also passed Modoc and the ghost farm, doing all the quests. :postviper:

Here I realized with horror that I don't have a pipboy, which I haven't even used until now. At the beginning of the game I noticed that it had not been given to me but not knowing Fallout 2 and not wanting spoilers I did not go to see anywhere, I thought it was something I would take later in the game, as I was leaving from a village of "savages". :shrug:

Instead then I discovered that the old woman from the village is none other than my mother and the daughter of the protagonist of the first Fallout, so I would be the nephew... and that after the initial temple trial a video starts and after that the pipboy and the suit come out.
Well the video never started for me, in fact I have neither the suit nor the pipboy. :wall:

Now: I tried a bit of everything... initially I tried out of curiosity to start a new game, again, redo the trial... and this time in the end everything was normal: video and pipboy with suit, I could not believe it.
The only difference is that this time instead of fighting in the last test I convinced the guy to let me pass.

I tried to figure out how to avoid having to start all over again after more than 20 hours of play, really guys... I couldn't do it and I should abandon everything. I saw that there is the possibility through a savegame editor to do something, but I have not found anywhere the command that concerns the pipboy, is it probably in the hex string of the save.dat? Yet even on the wiki page that explains the save.dat of Fallout 2 I have not found any traces of the pipboy (however there are a lot of unknown strings).

After all this sermon to explain you the situation, and excuse me, i apologize, my question is this: do any of you experts know what file I have to edit to add the pipboy to the save I have in Vault City? I want to specify that at the moment the game is still working, not having the pipboy has not caused me any problems yet, I do everything via hotkey... but I asked myself: what if I find an olodisk?
Being an object that is "given" by the game after the trial video... it must be a sort of "on-off" that I can hex-edit in some file, or not? :puppy-dog::help:

I have never read anyone write a story like that. No idea what you did to fuck up the game - RP 2.3.3 should not cause issues like that.

But I have to write it because if it happens to someone else, it seems absurd to me but it worked:

Thanks to your link for the updated mod, that if I had known I would have put it earlier, and to the instructions... I read that I could also overwrite an existing 2.3.3. version and I did so, then I went to comb through the ddraw.ini to see what I could do... I swear I was disconsolate and without any hope. :cry:

I have modified some things here and there that might interest me, such as the speed suggested by you and other things related to the map. Then I came to the option to have the pipboy at the start of the game.
I already knew this option, I had tried it in my various previous tests... but here there was an additional option: "Set to 2 to make the pipboy available by only skipping the vault suit movie check".

It is not clear what he means, to read it so it seems that he gives you the pipboy after you have skip the video after trial but... only if you "skip" it? Really dont know, I didn't have the video at all, but I put 2 just to try, I was sure it wasn't retroactive, I did it just to do it.

Instead it worked: I started the game and loaded the last save in Vault City... and I have the pipboy with all quests updated. I don't have the suit and in the videos unlocked on the pipboy the trial one in fact is missing... but that's okay for me. :drunk:

So thanks to you for the link of the updated mod, anyone has or will have this problem I hope finds this Thread, I had found only another with the same problem of mine but it was from 2011 and the guy had not solved.
