First let me say hey to the community, I've been an avid Fallout 1- 2 gamer and I have been watching the forums for some time(Roughly 4 years as anonymous)Playing mods such as MEGAMOD, and Fallout 2 Restoration project. I decided to set out and create my own mod after sitting around bored, drinking a beer.

    Fallout 2 Mod Rough draft

    "Life After Exile"

    War... War never changes.

This story takes place after the main prodigy character from fallout 1 is exiled, you will be tasked with the creation of Arroyo and that is what the main plot is drawn around. You will begin with two companions who followed you after your exile from Vault 13, you all traveled a very long way to come to where you are now having only a pistol you kept with you, your Vault Suit as well as cheap leather armor you must clear the new area of any unwanted critters so you can begin with the creation of Arroyo.. Safe from raiders and the eyes of chaos which still shrouds humanity even after all these years.

Still working on missions, dialog's and plot line, I plan to make this story spend up until the events that transpire when the main character starts Arroyo, then leaves.

Seeing as I am still in planning stages I would like to know your general input on the idea. Any Features you want, or ideas to help me run this story would be appreciated.

The team consist of: Myself, I can map and generally good at conversation files, and the other tad bits I need.. though I may need help with scripts.. If so, I will definably post for help.

This thread will be updated as I progress.. also.. My Cheap official website! Take a look (Yes it's free webs, yes it's crap but hey it's an official site at least!)

*A new story about the life of the main prodigy character from Fallout, a "What if.." scenerio on what he did during his exile, up until the creation of Arroyo.

*New Characters, and even some old ones may make a return staying true on how they acted during Fallout.

*New plot line and quests on your journey to create Arroyo.

*Planned to have multiple endings, it will even be possible for you to fail in the creation of Arroyo thus events in Fallout 2 never transpire.

*You don't have to do everything the "Right" way, the lovely canon of choices are planned to make a return to this mod. Don't want to save that farmer getting attacked by raiders? Then blow his head off and gain respect from the raiders themselves.. Want to be a "Hero"? Then save every living being in trouble along the way.

Hey, have fun with making X variants of step-by-step-lush-and-verdant (New) Arroyo! :)

Also, Silencer, isn't it *a bit* overlaping with your New Arroyo thing?

Yeah I know this is gonna be alot of work, and it probably won't be done for a while but hey at least it'll keep Fallout 2 alive long enough until the release of Fallout 3.

I don't think so, it doesn't matter how much effort is putting to make FO3 an awesome game, it seems the style of the game will be a little different from the originals, so, it will not kill FO2

So interesting an idea! I love it

As two companion, I would like to suggest one male and one female. If you play as one sex you will have a partner for your, eerr, descendant.

For the quest I would like to suggest the followings:

    Mainline quest:

    1. Scout the area: 4 part dungeon-crawlers. The Ravine, The Clearing (main Arroyo village), The Cave (later become part of Temple of Trials), and The Grove of Herbs (later become hunting ground). Each area should have interesting enemies: Giant Scorpion (high poison abilities), Fire Gecko, Swarm of Mantis (annoying, time consuming), Spore Plants (mod so that they can shoot two shots a round and poisons). Clear enemies in all 4 areas to finish this part.

    2. Lead the tribe to safety: Escort/Caravan quest. A long long escort quest from Vault 13 to Arroyo, easily 3 months long. all kind of enemies.
2.1 There maybe some detour to other settlements for resupply. Some one-time towns or villages. Frankly this mission is dangerous in-game since the caravan will travel through an area with almost no towns for resupply. the caravan may stop so our hero go find more supply? (kinda like car out of fuel circle in Fallout2)
2.1.1 Three stops for resupply: First stop is opened by an attack upon the caravan (cannibals?). Stop for rest, go out for meat jerky and water (limit 20 days). Return and resume
2.1.2 Three stops for resupply: Second stop is opened by an attack (fire geckos). Stop for repair, go out for meat jerky and water (limit 20 days). Find parts for repair (Junk? or a specialized item from a NPC). Return and resume
2.1.3 Three stops for resupply: Final stop is opened by meeting the Trapper Camp for the first time. Attack by bandits (to rob trappers) and slavers. Must save some trappers for a good relation with trapper ending.
2.2 Camping in the Clearing. QUest done.

    3. Establish friendly relation with nearby towns: Trapper Camp and Klamath Village.
3.1 Trapper Camp where the trappers gather to rest and sell their stuffs.
3.1.1 If save trappers earlier, now have some quest to rescue missing trapper team (if not, you must stumble upon the area on map to have quest). map is the kind with a bandits' cave. Fire Gecko on the clearing, Fire Gecko stand on the exit and entry of the cave, trappers are deep in a nook.
    3.2 Klamath Village.
3.2.1 Rescue the Buckners with their small herd of brahmins from wolves attack. There must be a brahmin AND both Buckner survive for good ending.
3.2.2 Clearing the fields for Brahmins' herd in return for some young calves for the tribe (REQ: 3.2.1 success)
3.3 A quest lead to the integration of two areas into one.
3.3.1 Talk with the Buckners to open an Inn&Trading Station. Keep the peace in Inn's opening night (like the quest with both miners gang in Redding).
3.3.2 Trappers suspect the Buckners stole their goods while they sleep. Find the thief. thief is a tribal boy leave on a hut nearby (brahmin maps maybe?). Killed the thief, or make him return the goods. If you got good relation with the Buckners as well as Trappers' camp (REQ 3.3.1 success, 2.1.3 success) after him return the goods you can make him live near Buckners' Inn to do honest work for a living. he can start learning to skin gecko and make meat jerky.

    1. Raiders' attack, and the construction of the rope bridge.

    2. The reason why the Temple of Trials are there. It's a bloody big construction, there should be a reason why it's there (so it will be found), or why it is built.

    3. Romance quests if you can.

They are my initial thoughts. Welcome to thrash/thresh them out.

    Good idea

laclongquan, I liked those ideas and that really helps flush out what I had stored for the plot line - I will definably use those ideas as a base. Also, I don't know how I am going to go about doing transitions I have no idea how to edit the world map so I may just have to do such via in game green transitions rather then world map though that will take away from the value. As I mentioned before I am not great at scripting and I will probably need help on that side of the mod. However mapping is generally no problem for me, I consider myself moderate, not a pro but I still need some work also. Don't be surprised if I ask for help within the coming days / weeks. Still reading the tutorials on how to script / add certain quests and events. But hey once I get the hang of it, and I release my first version i'll leave it up to the community on giving me hints on improvement.

Thanks for the ideas, keep em' coming.

Seems like a great idea. I hope your vision will become playable one day. Anything decent extending the life and world of the Fallout series is probably a good thing.

I wondered what might have happened with Arroyo between Fallout 1 and 2 so this interests me.

Life After Exile? what an idea, what a project

    You are welcome :D

Ideas are easy, so I can help.

Mapping, Scripting, and others, are hard, which I cant help...

Laclongquan, I am coming to realize that doing a mod on your own will be alot more work then needed, if you were working in a team, it'd be faster + more efficient at times. So if I need story ideas, or help with any other ideas, ill ask you on the subject.

So far I have a possible candidate for mapping that way I can concentrate more on the scripting / conversation files and other tad bits needed.

Bump. I haven't talk to Revenge for a month and I don't even know if this mod is alive anymore. But still, I volunteered for map making - I've done a descent, I think.

Most of these maps are unfinished but I'll let you guys take a look :)

    I've build a bunker too

    And a ship

I must say you've really got some talent, my dear Finn... So if you're looking for some work on maps and mean it seriously (sure, this isn't fulltime-based, but also no "I-will-try-it-and-maybe-will-not-run-away" bad habits!), have a look at my signature.

And before you'll ask about: yes, the last update is not translated to English, yay, what a shame. :)

EDIT: May you upload the whole map files instead of this really slow Imageshack show?

Just find the map file (mapname.map) in ...\data\maps directory and upload it on Rapidshare.com or whatever. It's very simple.

You might want to consider drafting out a reason why the tribe of the vault dweller seem to believe the vault dweller was a man instead of a woman. Always thought it kind've funny that right off the get go of Fallout 2 the tribe members just consider the vault dweller a male instead of a female.

Perhaps there's two companion, one woman with no mention of her root, and one man, who is also a Vault 13 Dweller who follow Chosen One out of his sense of justice and admiration? So that if you play as female Chosen One, the oral history may make it unclear the first Chosen One is female or male?

is that all right with you?
