The general shop in SF restocks with a couple of thousand coins every time.

There's no shortage of coins in the game. My first playthrough I ended up with almost 20000, with one of my NPCs holding on to a spare 99999 (didn't get the -CH implants though and those cost a lot). That was a "go everywhere, do everything" playthrough but didn't include any walking around the wilderness just to get shops to restock.

    Re: Disgusted!

Well I dunno - I tried stealing from a guard with an LSW at the NCR Bazaar & he turned on me with it & hardly did any damage. I was wearing comat armor.

If you think the situation with the shops at SF is an improvement over the original. So be it. I thought the availablitity of easy $ at that point was a plus & I still say the inventory of the eastern shop isn't up to the quality of the original. (IMHO)

    Re: Disgusted!

Combat armor is pretty good against normal damage...but if you play the game in the typical order - Den - Modoc - VC - Broken Hills - NCR...you wouldn't have armor as good as that, by that stage I'm normally wearing Metal armor, or Leather M2. There is only one LSW which can be stolen here, the rest of the guards are holding them in their hands, this weapon can be bought at the Bazaar shop on occasions.

I don't think the scripts were changed to effect the shops in SF - it's best to put the question to Killap...

    Re: Disgusted!

I didn't change what weapons the shopkeepers get. That is for sure. Make sure you are running the latest release, since there was a restock bug a version or two back.

However, looking at the code, it does seem that one of the shopkeepers no longer has money on him for easy stealing (he still has the same amount of money though). I was going to do this to all shopkeepers in San Fran, but this was met with an outcry from several people here at NMA. I decided to scrap the idea and leave it the way it was. It seems that one of the tables was left with the change though. I'll address this in the upcoming Christmas release.

    Re: Disgusted!

OK, I cheated a little. I had the "Bridge" encounter where I answered the Bridgekeeper's questions, he died, & I got his robe as armour. Since I didn't like the look I took the liberty of substituting combat armor for it via an editor since the Bridgkeeper's Robe was equal to that in in protection. OK? I had not yet encountered Broken Hills, but was on the VC-NCR quest given by Stark(?) at VC. I would have been wearing actually the Bridgekeeper's Robe as I said but had substituted the Combat armor since they are equal to each other in protective effect from what i understand. Understand?

Also, I would like to comment on your reply "...but if you play the game in the typical order - Den - Modoc - VC - Broken Hills - NCR..."

I have played this game so many times that there are parts that become boring to me. Like Modoc. Like the Gecko quest in VC. So after I leave Arroyo I have a tendency to wander a bit (to build up experience & maybe pick up something interesting) on my way instead of heading directly in a linear fashion to Klamath. Same thing after I leave Klamath to go to Den & then further eastward. After all, this game can be as open-ended as I desire. I am not legalistically committed to the "typical" path & it's unfortunate I think you would assume I would be. The quest I was given at VC to go to NCR opened up the possibility of participating in various things there also - like talking to Tandi (which would be an exciting thing for our hero to do wouldn't it!) & receive the V15 quest from her. But there's also the suggestion given by the police chief standing on the corner in NCR to talk to Westin about a task he has that can open up the possibility of finding V13. Then there's the Raiders who can get mixed into the process too. I decided to go to New Reno to pay Bishop a visit - a possibility opened to me by Moore in VC. This time I decided to get into Bishop's safe, get the map showing the Raider's location & his holodisk & assassinate Bishop since I didn't like him. I also found V13 through the Westin-given task & through that the Military Base popped up on my map so I also went there. That popped up SF on the map so I decided to pay a visit there = which brings up the reason I asked concerning the 2 shops & their owners.

It may surprise you some to learn that in all the meanderings I have put my character through that he is now at level 31 - & hasn't yet hit Broken Hills (another place that sort of bores me since I have visited it so often) or Redding. Oh yes, since I was in SF I decided what the heck why not accept the Navarro quest from the BOS rep after hearing about Navarro from old Hakunin upon returning to Arroyo after the last dream transmission from him. So I went to Navarro & in the process of fulfilling all the possibilities there including getting the FOB for the steamship I eradicated its personnel. Fun, fun!

I agree. there's no proper way of playing Fallout 2...and as long as your enjoying the game who cares anyway. In my next play-through I might make a dash for San Francisco and sweet talk my way to the Enclave...that's the beauty of the game, it's flexible. So Hellbane play away, as long as your enjoying yourself then I'll say the RP is a great success.

Here I have a small hint:
Try to visit the Redding as soon as possible. (Ask Tubby in the Den, he'll mark the location on your map). With YAMM or Glovz's fix installed, clearing of the mines is true challenge for a low level character.

I think it would be good to add premade characters (Chitsa, Mingan, Narg) as NPCs to the game. I would even consider making them as recruitable companions.

Hello and endless thanks to Killap's and all the crew that working to Restoration Project & High Resolution Patch and Unofficial F2 Patch (again Killap).

The stuff that I see in this was amazing and can't say how much thanks I give.

I will not speak any more about how big is the restoration project.
But I have my problem and I need to know if someone have the same:
I just finished the game (beat Frank Horrigan) when I leave Enclave my game crash and I can't continue after the closure. The game crash exactly after the movie. I installed this stuff: Unofficial Patch , High Resolution Patch and Restoration Project in exact order. Do I make mistake? Please help me, i want to play after finishing the game this is one of my favorite things in all open world games.

and last but not least, (sorry if this is not the place but I see that in description any suggestions or ideas are welcome for discussion)
Ok first of all, the first time that I play F2 was consumed by atmosphere in NEW RENO. All there is perfect and I will again not make any further comments.
My idea: when I first play game I want it (wait it to became made man) and I was want it to have classic mobster suit to wear with fedora :) . Ok I know this will be very hard to do but I want to ask is it possible to be added like a custom content and not to replace any old armor?
Years back I was little in modding in F2 and was able to make replacement of graphics of Combat Leather Jacket to Super Mutant Serum (stupid? ) because this was my second dream in F2 - to be able somehow (for short time or optional) to play like SUPER MUTANT . I just did this little mod but was not very happy becuase I used most of the super mutant graphics for almost all weapons (pistol, SMG, rifles to be used big weapon graphics for super mutant).
pity that I can't find this mod, anyway will be unusable with restoration project.

So this is my new suggestions:
super mutant serum (that will last few minutes or hours , will be rare/unique item)
New Armor Outfit - Made Man (mobster costume) only available after become a made with one of the families the abilities of the costume could be equal to Leather Armor MKII .

I will be glad to help with what I can. So everyone can post me messages.

Iam glad that you support this amazing game alive.

Yes, you did. Unofficial Patch and High Res Patch are already included in the Restoration, do not install them.

I don't know if its just me, but I find the idea that you get positive karma from killing raiders in random encounters with no witnesses, yet don't lose any karma from stealing things in general kinda awkward. Maybe reduce the karma gains and possibly add some more karma loss methods(maybe loss of karma on successful steal?) ? It just seems that no matter how I play, I tend to end up with very positive karma unless I really go all out and try to kill everyone in every random encounter...... or dig up every grave I see...

Also, was the quest chain to optimize the gecko power plant through McClure a la trade agreement ever fixed, or does it still result in a dead-end that results in gecko being invaded?

    I have a small suggestion:
In the Mariposa base, there are a dead bodies of Enclave troopers carrying the holodisks. If the Choosen One do not explore whole base on first visit, the bodies disappears after few days and one of the holodisks is inaccessible in that case - it's overlayed with blood pool.
So, replacing the holodisks somewhere near instead of bodies would be very useful. (It's not crucial, of course, just idea.)

I know how to fix that annoying problem, it's a matter of adjusting the frame offset numbers in the Frame animator, that will force the blood to go to the bottom of the hierarchy - I'm yet to test it...but I think it will work.

EDIT: Seems like the blood pool behavior is hard coded - or something. I can change the frame offsets, even the color of the blood, place the new artwork in the Fallout 2 scenery folder, but it doesn't appear in the actual game. It will refer to the original blood pool artwork. Killap might be the man to fix this...but I found that if you change the flags of the items, i.e. ammo, and make it non flat, it wont fall behind the blood pools, so that's at least something. But it that only helps with certain objects, others like caps seem to fall behind the blood pool regardless of the flag. Its seems to be an issue about the actual size of the item, and its position in relation to the blood pool. Every item in the game could be adjusted, but then certain ground items might be forced in front of the player characters legs, at the moment the PC stands on top of these items. So what do people hate more - items behind the blood pool, or certain items potentially in front of the PC legs...

    Damn, that's bad news. :|
For me, the overlaying blood is much worse, than some items placed on ground, around the character. (There is an interesting part of story written on that holodisks in Mariposa.)
I will try to bother Timeslip a bit. Replacing the original blood artwork sounds very reasonable, hopefully that would be possible in future sfall releases. :look:
Anyway, thanks for your effort, Pixote! This is really an annoying issue.

I'm going to go through all of the items in the game and change their settings to "Flat - NO", then test it in game. Those larger items that aren't effected by the blood pool can keep their original settings.

In the Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2b main forum, there has been some discussion about expanding the Brotherhood of Steel locations outside of San Francisco. They are pretty much empty and it's agreed that they seem to have been unfinished by the devs. Hello, Killap. :notworthy: Your followers are calling. Any chance of seeing these lesser BOS outposts filled out in a future update?

..also the sheriff's office in Redding may be improved. The Chosen One can to walk here and he can grab all the weapons from lockers, right front of the sheriff's eyes. That do not make sense, I think, for example the lockers in the NCR police station are well guarded and can't be looted just that.
The sheriff has a broken leg, but he is not blinded and the guns are worth few thousands of coins! He can not to tolerate such stealing without a single word or single shot! :)
(and it's kinda cheating, when character on level 8 can to equip Sulik with 14mm pistol in the Redding)
Well, it's just another idea, and probably a complicated one - it's not possible without an additional scripting, I know. :?
