*Flexible Isometric Simulation System for Interactive Open‑world Nuclear‑roleplaying

Fallout: F.I.S.S.I.O.N. is a next‑generation, cross‑platform reimplementation of Fallout 1 & 2 (Fallout2-CE) that preserves the original isometric, turn‑based gameplay while adding modern enhancements, widescreen support, and true community‑driven extensibility. Run it on Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS—and even in browsers.

No really, what is this?
Well, all the fancy shmancy grandstanding aside, this is really just a branch of the Fallout2-CE engine, built on the work of Alex Batalov, and the Fallout2-CE crew of @roginvs, @malaise_chalk, and a few others.

I have been chipping away at a custom version for a final "English" release of Fallout Sonora, and this is a derivative of that effort. It is by no means something I am committed to fully, but I felt it wouldn't hurt to release/build something somewhat robust and useful, outside of a specific use for Fallout Sonora.

My focus has mainly (as always) been on the macOS end of things, so what I have so far is strictly tested there. I really have little idea of how things play out on Windows, Linux, Android, iOS etc. I have not tested things there.
Nevertheless, I have builds ready to go for these OS's, so those who are willing to take a risk can try them out and see if they work. I'd be very happy to receive any feedback on that.

So what features are we talking about then?

Currently "most" of the features included in Fallout2-CE are present. These include:
  • Many bug fixes
  • Small gameplay tweaks
  • Pathfinding fixes
  • Hi-res support
  • Pipboy pagination
  • Expanded save slots
  • Interface/graphics fixes & enhancements
  • ...and more
I will have to make a full feature list later. There is some sFall support, but FISSION is leaning away from that, for the sake of simplicity.

The main effort:
The focus has been on making Fallout F.I.S.S.I.O.N. properly/natively support widescreen monitors.

What this involved:
  • Hand-editing all interface files to a new widescreen format
  • Adding code offsets to allow switching between widescreen and default monitor ratios
  • Gathering these and other changes into an in-game interface

This allows, I hope, Fallout F.I.S.S.I.O.N. to be the easiest way to set up and get going with Fallout. At least a no-frills, basic game set up.
You can literally:
  • Drop it into your install
  • Run it
  • Set up your preferences in-game
  • Play

If you would like to try out the current build, you can find it at the link below:

Please keep in mind this is very much a work in progress - nevertheless, I hope it is currently stable enough to handle complete play-throughs. If you encounter bugs or issues, please report here, or on the github repository. I will endeavor to fix/patch/support what I can. No promises though. So test/use at your own risk.

Sounds very nice and like a big effort. So thank you.
However, under iOS I have no use for this, since I cannot install it... Will take some years and pressure for Apple to open up its platform.
