There's not a chance for a decent-sized expansion nowadays. The small DLC model is much more profitable.

Every encounter replaced with a zombie/holloween themed counter part.

A bunch of new horror themed side quests.

    2 new multiplayer modes.

    3 new weapons.

And a new roughly 8 hour long story mission. I've brought games at launch which were shorter than that.

Ok, and with Red Dead Redemption's zombie add on, that makes about three add ons I can think of from the last 4 years (the other two being for Dragon Age and Red Alert 3).

Add ons, while they still happen, are very much the exception rather than the rule. I think Ausir is currently sort of wrong- there is still a chance that a game will have a decent sized expansion- but it is rare. Give it a year or two and they simply won't happen. For New Vegas though there is no chance for a decent sized expansion.

I was generally talking about New Vegas here. Not a chance for a decent-sized expansion for a game published by Bethesda.

No, but they did not make such expansion for FO3. IIRC, someone from Beth even specifically mentioned in an interview that such expansions cost too much time and money to develop compared to the profits, unlike smaller DLC.

Yep, that was Pete Hines saying that. He felt Shivering Isles came out way too late in the game if I recall correctly, so that Oblivion wasn't "fresh" in people's minds anymore.

Which I think is kinda horseshit because New Vegas is selling a lot despite it being viewed as a large expansion by many people and has taken flak on its graphics and the engine feeling old and all that.
I think they definitely could make money on an expansion but yep, chances are they'll cash in a lot more on the bite-sized DLC and with less risk.

Yep, they said that they thought that Knights of the Nine was the perfect size and would do DLCs that size for Fallout 3. I'd expect the same thing going forward until they say otherwise.

Ahh okay i didn't know that.
But than again i think there's still a chance if Beth would be going for a non-sandbox game, like a new franchise they're not sure if it would sell well. At least it seems as if such games are more likely too recieve an addon than DLC.

I think Knights of the Nine was good. It wasn't super long, but at least it used the game world and filled it with some more content. This is what they should do with New Vegas too and not sending the player to some new landscape, which definitive will feels smaller / shorter then.

I'd like an Add-In of content. Expand the borders of the world, add more quests to factions that need them, add more companions, weapons, armor, and what not. Kind of like Broken Steel, but not shitty.

What ever happened to the expansion pack? Like Tribunal and Bloodmoon were both huge expansions for Morrowind (Back from when Beth's writing wasn't shit) Can't they just make full expansions? Or is it the same reason that they won't do another Shivering Isles...
