I have the Steam version of Fallout Tactics, and for some reason, it always takes exactly 6 minutes to load before I can actually get into the game. And I do mean exactly 6 minutes, not a second difference, I timed it myself. My computer specs are almost certainly not the problem, but I'll post them here just in case:

    CPU: Intel Core i5-750
Video Card: Nvidia 9800 GTX+ (EVGA)
    Motherboard: Intel DP55WB
    RAM: OCZ 8GB Dual-Channel DDR3

Please help, it's really annoying to have to wait 6 minutes to play the game. I have never had this problem with any other game, even games a lot older than Fallout Tactics.

I think that this may be caused by the code which enumerates graphic devices when initializing DirectX display. Run the BOS.exe executable file with -gdi parameter specified in command line, for example: BOS.exe -gdi. If the delay won't be present then I'm right and then make sure you don't have several video cards installed and enabled. If you have antivirus scanner then turn it off.

Yeah it worked, thanks a bunch! But is there any way to get around the game going into windowed mode? If not, I'll just deal with it. Better than waiting around for several minutes.

There's no other way. Unfortunately the -gdi and other command line parameters are intended for debugging of the game, so the play in a windowed mode won't be convenient. The delay is caused by DirecDraw member function which gathers information about video cards. Try to turn off as many devices as possible and not needed programs running in the background. Finally try to install other video card.
