It really doesn’t matter whether the show is canon or not. It’s hilarious that Bethesda and its fans try to fit it into the canon, but ultimately the canon is fucked either way. And Bethesda can just easily retcon out whatever they want, so anything being “canon” at this point is meaningless.

Probably, they wanted the show to gain traction by saying it's canon to make lots of money without really caring about the IP.

The showrunners made it very clear that they wanted the show to have genuine impact on the game's timeline. That just setting the show on some unexplored location in the US untouched by the games or the lore was unappealing to them. Besides, this isn't the MCU to start introducing alternative realities right now.

Makes largely agreeable points when he at least talks about Fallout itself instead of politics or race, which is why people dunk on him so much on YouTube by calling him a racist, they fixate on the part where he mentions politics and race instead of countering the points about how the show is bad itself when he reviewed season 1. I haven't seen people like Mauler and Creetosis receive hate when they reviewed the show, since they mostly focused on the show, unlike Synthetic Man.
