Or gathers his friends and they collectively "beat the shit" out of the one who defended himself.

See, this is what you fail to understand. A parents job is to teach their children on how to deal with conflicts by example so that when they are in the real world, they don't end up in jail as a consequence of their actions as adults.

You can't go around assaulting people - it's mostly illegal and frowned upon.

Maybe your parents should have taught you this...

I don't know where you're getting assaulting from. I'm talking about defending yourself, dipshit.

You'd rather teach your kids to let someone else handle it?

Yeah son! Just go get your shit kicked in, and then we'll go talk to the big bad bullies parents. I hope to GOD you're either joking, or not a parent.

Screw that. Never start the fight, End it.

You'd be surprised. We're talking about bullies, not getting jumped.

My experience will bullies was you had to strike hard and fast - multiple blows to their face. Now at the start of high school I fought almost every bully in my year level, I didn't really win any of those fights, but I didn't lose them either, but the most important factor was I was left alone after confronting these bullies. Sometimes violence is the only solution when you're dealing with cretins - and after the violence comes a certain level of respect, and sometimes even a friendship.

In my second year at high school I was forced to fight a guy a couple year levels above me, he was bigger and stronger, but I stood my ground and gave him a big fright, unfortunately I broke my hand on his face, but the pain felt with a broken hand is nothing compared to the pain felt with fear and intimidation.

Or maybe you got into so many fights because you were a bully.

When I was a freshmen, I had no self-esteem. I had my shit kicked in more times than I could count. and talking to my parents, or the school only made it worse.

There was one bully in particular. he was just a dick. one day in Gym, he took my glasses and stomped them. I snapped, and choked him out, and beat the holy hell out of him... In-front of a teacher and forty other kids. needless to say, I was suspended for a week, and no body screwed with me for the rest of the year.

The next year, some little scrappy spit-fuck (Freshmen, about 110 lbs) decided to push me. (also in gym)

    He got the trashcan treatment.

Long story short, Teach your kids to defend themselves.

Bullies have friends. "Jumping" someone is not a forbidden act in the Bully Code of Ethics.

I was bullied throughout elementary school (although it was not called 'bullying' back then, it was called 'school'). I was the youngest and smallest, so it was easy to pick on me.
I never fought them or tried to fight them, I always tried the "tell a teacher or someone" approach.
Of course, that just doesn't work.
The teachers never saw anything and their only advice was "Go to the other end of the school yard".
When they finally did talk to the parents of the bullies, suddenly it was my fault, that I provoced them.
Of course, it got worse after that.
Being picked on and beating each other up is part of school and part of growing up. But it's 'beating each other up' and not 'get beaten up'.
Bullies don't listen to teachers, and more often than not are their parents worthless wastes of flesh who either have no control over them or else beat them all the time that it lost all meaning.
Either way, bullies tend to be cowards. When they realize that their prey fights back, most will stop.

Well at least if being a professional bully doesn't work out for him he can enjoy a lucrative career as the only mohel who can perform circumcisions without a surgical knife.

He looks and behaves exactly like those incest-produced redneck kids from the excellent British film "Eden Lake", and his parents behave like the parents of those kids.

Frightening. I don't believe a single word he says, and I don't believe he can feel remorse.

That he was the Victim, that he had been hit first. He even said he wasn't sorry on TV, before his Dad corrected him. His parents were both shocked and his Dad said he tried to make a good example for his son. Not good enough if his son is bullying other kids.

Ritchard is no stranger to pack mentalities. That he got bullied first is highly un-likely.

Second, I doubt a bully would give his victim free shots to the face and gut without immediate retaliation.
