FO Bible; Worth Downloading?

RPGenius

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Quite a while ago, I stumbled across the Fallout Bible on the download page; my internet was at the time a problem, and was not allowing me to download files from NMA.
I have now got working internet, but have since then seen numerous flaws pointed out by members of the board I have developed a high regard for the opinion of.

Is it worth downloading the Bible, or will more harm than good come of it as my head slowly fills with lies from a man who aparently has little knowledge of the FO Universe?

I thought it was very readable. There's plenty of insight into the makings of both games even if you're not interested in the "we're developing Fallout canon here" stuff. It's also interesting to read it knowing he was lying through his teeth about not doing the Bible because of the upcoming <s>Fallout 3</s> Van Buren. But then I'm a CA fan, things like "Lose your fucking turn and die, stupid brahmin" cracks me up. If you're not, I suppose that could make reading a chore rather than a delight.

I enjoyed parts of it, I must say.... It does give you quite an insight into Fallout, and I gotta say, it is worth downloading, maybe just due to the same reason as Per.

It's worth reading just for having read it.

That said, don't take too much of it as canon. You should be able to figure out what is and isn't by just reading it, though.

I'm not exactly the greatest fan of the "Bible" on the planet, but I'll going to go on the record as supporting what Per said. And honestly, it's not like there's anything as in-depth as the "Bible" forthcoming in the realm of Fallout. That alone makes it worth the read.

If that isn't reason enough, read it if only so you can you can quote it during arguments like all the cool people do. This tends to recharge arguments, providing more hours of entertainment for disenfranchised Fallout die-hards. This is so they don't have to think about the future, where saying "My eyes...the goggles do nothing!" will be an annoying meme on here, RPGCodex and DAC and be a ban-worthy offense on Bethesda's forums.

One question about the all in one FOBileble, is this just all the different pdfs and word documents in one zip or have they all been compiled into one pdf document?

Compiled into one document, although this does make for some weird reading at times, because it happens several times that you're reading one thing, only to see it denied or contradicted a few pages further.

It's funny, but it's a failure.

The Fallout Bible was intended as just that...the Bible. Kind of what the Fallout wiki is trying to become now, though shorter. A comprehensive and definitive guide to the Fallout setting.

It's not that and "it's in the Fallout Bible" has stopped being a valid argument. I remember back in the days we considered the Bible the new messiah ('cept Rosh, I think it set of his bullshit-radar pretty effectively) and what it stated was true. Now MCA has been ground up as not important to the Fallout setting at all, and with his fall the Bible also fell.

To the Fallout setting itself, it's barely more relevant than the Van Buren docs.

Even if MCA himself couldn't. :D

I think it had mostly to do with MCA's mysterious "fleet of cars" that NCR supposedly had, and many other setting points used more to excuse the dev team's shitty handling of the title, to go off and worl on incessant easter eggs (that they couldn't even finish for release), that had my suspicions raised from the start. To be fair, a portion of each "bible" (they were becoming more like MCA's personal Fallout e-zine than anything else) was MCA having to address critiques from Saint Proverbius and others in regards as to why MCA was wholly clueless of Fallout's setting in the previous issue.

Instead of acting like the Fallout setting's canon document, it served more to try and cover up MCA's shitty design in Fallout 2. I wonder if he ever plans to make a Descent to Undermountain Bible...that would be pretty fucking entertaining to read...

An OK read?! It may be the most influential and mind-nourishing read of your life... or not... but probably

I read it the best way I could think of, printed all of it out, put it in a binder and took it to work. Upon finding out i printed out the whole Fallout Bible and binded it, he dropped his work crap and hugged me... I am now mortified and have been living in my cat's litter box since.
