FO:T seems to have no SUNlight...

I have been looking at every FO:T screen-shot i can get my hands on, and i have not seen a single one that has sunlight. In the demo, the climate seems cold and wintery. Is this the intent? Through all the other non-demo screens i have seen, there does not seem to be any sunlight..just the same old overall lighting level. No heat-cracked yellow sand, just brown mud-colored tiles that can be clearly seen as squares. Also, i did not see any change in the lighting..the time of day does not change..(i know this might very well be in the full version). I hope they will implement the same feature where the time-of-day takes change in front of your eyes..how dusk turns to day as light increases. In the demo, the time-of-day seems to be dawn...I have seen Night-time screenshots, but no Daytime ones..i mean ones where you can FEEL the scorching dryness and the heat.

But for dawn or dusk, i think they did a pretty sweet job with the lighting..the atmosphere is bleak and cold..just the way it's supposed to be, i would think. Now if they could just make the time of day change as you play...

Yeah, sneak skill could be bumped up in the night and anyone without night-vision goggles could have a perception loss.

I think it would be good to add the "sleep" option in the pip boy..you could still have time-restraints on each mission, (like a couple of days) so you could at least rest and gain a few HP..plus it would be a way of letting the player choose a time of day to do certain parts of each mission..for example in mission 2 of the demo, you could choose to sleep until nighttime, then use Night-Vision goggles to get past the snipers in the beginning..then go kill the roaches, sleep until morning inside the house, and then continue on..or whatever..you get the idea. In my opinion, it would be better to let the player choose by resting instead of picking a precise time of day before each mission..and then having to go through it all the way at that time.

There are no night vision goggles in the Fallout Universe.

Then why the hell did they put a headlight on the T-51b Power Armor?

Because not everyone has night vision goggles.

RE: Yes there are.

But if they had that kind of technology available, they would have put it in the T-51b Power Armor instead of the "I'm a Big Lit Up Target" headlight.

Now that i think of it, maybe there shouldnt be night-vision after all. the universe is crumbling and we cant stop it!

RE: Yes there are.

That's pretty much how I feel about FOT right now.

Between the hummers, the PA, the hair covered deathclaws.. There really doesn't seem like much FO in this game.

Regardless of deviance from the "feel" of Fallout that you are used to, don't let the enjoyable aspects of the game slip past you. I've seen this happen with many games. Mechwarrior 4 for instance. Many people that liked either 2 or 3, or even the board game, simply don't like 4 because it's "different" and they are missing a great game.

Also, don't forget that whatever they (Microforte and Interplay) do, it BECOMES Fallout. Even if it doesn't fit in with what Fallout USED to be like, it is officially Fallout. If they never changed the flavor of anything, eventually it would become a boring universe where everything was known about everything, and nothing new was ever discovered.

I guess I'm just saying to keep an open perspective, all game designers (and movie makers) have to worry about upsetting hard-core fans while bringing in new ones when they make a sequel or spin-off. Concessions have to be made, not to mention they probably WANT FOT to have it's own unique "flavor".

Because it isn’t a simple headlight but an IR search/image converter, so obvious;-)

Uh, as I recall, not everyone in the BOS is equipped with the T-51b (or whatever) power armour, since that'd be nonsense. So the BOS Initiates or Scouts or whatever would get light armour, and use night-vision goggles.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Okay..

If they had that sophisticated technology, it would have been incorporated in to the T-51b INSTEAD of the head light. The T-51b is the top of the line military technology, after all. Not to mention the fact a head light is significantly less stealthy, since it makes the person who is using one an easy target.

RE: Yes there are.

I'm sure there's people who think "Highlander 2" is part of the Highlander series also. Then again, there's a good deal of Highlander fans who pretend "Highlander 2" never happened, because it was so bad.

As for labelling the inconsistancies, "unique flavor".. Well, that's fairly absurd. Here's why:

1.) There's no 10MM weapons in Fallout Tactics, at all. However, 10MM ammo, SMGs and pistols were all over Fallout and Fallout 2. 10MM ammo was the currency of choice for most people, it was so common.

2.) The BoS in Fallout had two types of armor. The T-51b Power Armor and the BoS Combat Armor. Both of these armors are missing from Fallout Tactics, yet it's about a bunch BoS people who head East to take on the Supermutant army... Without armor?

I could go on and on and on with these, but I think I've made the point with just two.

Interesting observation: Power Armor LOWERS all skills except for those that deal with weapons.

The T-51b was the top of the line when the bombs fell. The Advanced Power Armor was developed by the enclave between that time and Fallout 2.
